Hello, This model needs a mono headset. You can get an adapter at Radio Shack for about $3. Item 274-368. You cam also purchase the correct headset, DH50 at dictationmall.com

I'm assuming u have bluetooth on stereo find bluetooth on ur phone, turn it on and find the device u need. I do it old fashion way with cord has headphone jack on one end to plug in phone and red and white to plug into stereo. If u really want low tech cassette tape with headphone jack works too.

You are using stereo headset, but it is a mono output. So you need either mono headset or an adapter that will allow the mono sound to go to stereo output for a stereo headset.
what happens is inside the cord where you have your ear phones connecting to your ipod, there is a thin wire that can easily brake. it happens if u for example, rap your ear phones around your ipod. if your rap the chords to tight, the wire can break. it can even brake when you move the cord too much. such as spinning it, shaking it and such. the wire that breaks connects to one side or both sides of your earphones, which produces the sound. if you can hear only on one side, the cord is damaged and cant be fixed.
i would go and buy new ear phones i perfer skullcandy in-ear earphones because the wire is secrurly wrapped, and doesnt brake easily such as other producers. the skullcandy ear phones are in my mind are much better then other earphones. you actually feel like your in the room or at a live show.
The headset you are using is a stereo headset. This unit uses a mono headset. Look at the end of the headset. If there is 2 black rings, it is stereo. You can get a stereo to mono adapter at Radio Shack for about $2.50.
Use the side buttons to lower the master volume, when your in media mode listening to your music, you have to use the side buttons or flip it open and use the side buttons by squeezing your finger between the big screen and the keyboard, they diodnt think that part out to well.
The ear Piece volume control your talking about only pertains to when your actually on a call.
