Sounds like the lens mechanism is stuck - mine does the same thing after my 2 year old dropped it on the cement. Looking for a replacement lens now, but not having much luck. Read the previous posts for other solutions. Good luck!
yes- the internal mechanicsw of hte lens pull from the camera body - are the contacts between the lens and body clean? your probably going to need to send the lens in for repair. :(
slap it in your palm several times to release whatever is jamming the lens. EWhile this sounds brutal it is but I was given this tip bjy a Sony digital camera tech and believe me it does work,\\Keep trying till it eventually clears
I am having the same problem with my camera. I have to take the batteries out to get it to shut down. I also cannot view my photos on the camera, when I try to turn it to view, it goes to shoot mode.
Steve, I have the exact same problem with my tv. same model. If you happen to find a solution, could you please forward it to me. I will be very appreciative. email me at [email protected] . I'll do the same for you if I find a solution.
Hi: If the camera has not been abused, such as dropping, impact of some sort, or restricting the extending lens, then there is an internal problem. See my other posts on suggestions of selling it.
A temporary fix to power up is to press the menu and power button at
the same time. When the lens is extended and it beeps, on my camera ,
the lens is *stuck* Give it a gentle tug , then try the power button
again
The LCD goes dark after the camera has been inactive for a time, to save battery. When that happens, you can easily restore the LCD display by half-pressing the shutter.
If you want to, you can turn this off by selecting menu-setup-SleepTimeout and turn it off. (I don't recommend it, though, as the LCD always on will drain your battery).
