Sounds like the back light is bad. The display will have to be replaced because replacing the back light itself is very difficult and the bulb itself is extremely fragile. If you have tried turning up the brightness with you keyboard with no luck it's the backlight

On Windows XP laptop. can't use Desktop Display options

There is option in display properties (can't remember the exact tab at the moment) that allows you to use a web link associated with your background, uncheck that and the issue should resolve (I think the url link associated is now invalid)

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computer and I'm experiencing a problem with the orange battery light flickering continuouslyl; though the green battery light is displayed. Thank you

I think you may be referring to the green power light and the orange hard drive activity light.you should have a power icon located on the bottom bar on the desktop near the clock that indicates battery power.

I have a dell inspiron 6000 the screen goes black

the lcd screen may be causing this. Try to connect the laptop to an external monitor and have both working at the same time by toggling Fn F8 on the keyboard. Wait until it goes black on the LCD. post back what happens. If the external monitor wont go out when the lcd does, the lcd may have to be replaced. If the monitor goes out too, it's a video card issue which may be resolved by reinstalling the driver.

The monitor in my computer turns dark when i turn the laptop on

That sounds like you have something loose ..

Here is an on-line service manual for that

I would look specifically @ the LCD/monitor lead and its connections

Half a Screen

Check first by connecting it to an external monitor. If you see that it is the same problem in the external monitor then I think there is something wrong with your video card. See if you can re seat the video card.

This issues also come from the cable that connects the LCD with the motherboard. Have you opened the Laptop anytime and moved the cable?

Check these first. It sounds something loose or a something related to video card.

Screen went dark (almost completely)

check your power cord and make sure it's plugged in all the way, and if it is, check your brightness setting.

Usually it's the Fn key + an arrow key. Make sure the brightness is up all the way
