LG WM2233HW washer plumbing rattle.

Hello,
I just got an LG WM2233HW washer and every time it fills with it's little spurts of water, it causes the galvanized plumbing in my house to rattle. I have a 1951 house with unknown aged plumbing, is there something I can or need to do about this? I'm concerned that I may develop a leak over time.
thanks,
Justin

Terrible hammering in my wallw !

  • askmelate507 Apr 23, 2009

I have the same problem and did the water hammer on my cold water. The Home Depot expansion valve does't work.

Next step is to drain all the lines and make sure they have no air in them.

I AGREE WITH RICKZILLA. WHAT YOU NEED IS A BABY EXPANSION TANK. YOU CAN ALSO INSTALL A TEE WITH A LONG NIPPLE AND CAP ( POINTED UPWARDS ). WHEN THE WATER SLAMS SHUT IT COMPRESSES THE AIR POCKET IN THE LONG NIPPLE JUST LIKE IT WOULD IN THE EXPANSION TANK. THE TANK IS A BETTER OPTION BUT THE LONG NIPPLE WILL WORK IN TIGHT AREAS.

Hello Justin,
What you are hearing is what they refer to as "Water Hammer'.. and aside from the noise.. it probably won't do much damage however home improvement stores such as Home Deot and Lowes sell add on devices that are installed onto your supply lines to absorb the shock when water is cycled on and off... You'll need to tell them exactly what size pipe you have and ( depending on how familiar you are with plumbing) you may want to hire a plumber to install.. They may have a water hammer add on that fits onto the screw on water lines.. Hope this helps..

OE error on washing machine LG WM2233HW

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out.

A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code.. CLICK HERE

What is wrong when your washer keep filling all the time

Hello,

Their are 2 possibilites causing it to overflow

1) the water inlet valve that the hoses from the house plumbing attach to is sticking open, when it sticks it will stick open regardless if thier is power to the machine or not,so to determine if that is the problem, start the washer and quickly unplug it,if the water continues to fill, that valve is sticking

2) the water level switch is defective,do the same as far as starting it,if the fill stops when power disconected it's the water level switch that is in need of replacement

Good luck, i hope this helps.

Can I get an on line manual for model # WM-2233HW LG front load washer

Yes, LG has the user's manual for the WM-2233HW on the product site. Click on the Support tab here: http://www.lg.com/us/appliances/washers/LG-WM2233HW.jsp . The link to the manual is on the right side of the page. The manual is in a pdf so you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the file. The direct link appears to be http://www.lg.com/common/product/support.jsp?localeCd=US&productId=WM2233HW&uri=/us/appliances/washers/LG-WM2233HW.jsp&categoryIdCms=2# . If this link doesn't work, please start at the first link I provided.

I hope this helps.

Our LG WM2233HW Tromm when not in use slowly fills up with water. For example if we do not use it for 24 hours there may be as much as 2 inches of water sitting in there.

The water inlet valve has failed. They tend to get debris inside and not seat properly. You will need to replace the water inlet valve. They are usually not to expensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help Water inlet valve replacement You can also get diagrams and illustrations of your specific model at the same site.

As the washer fills, the water stream cycles, slow - fast.

YOU CAN GO TO LOWES IN THE PLUMBING SECTION AND BUY A PRESSURE RELEASE FOR THAT PROBLEM. JUST ASK THE LOWES PLUMBING GUY

Maytag washer causes water pipes to rattle when filling

Could be something called water hammer which is a pipe issue. You can install/have installed a water hammer arrestor which is a small pipe extension that stops that.

LG Font Load Washer flashing error code FE

FE is Fill Error. If door is closed and washer is plugged in, FE means water is too high and water pump will turn on.

This happens most often when a water fill valve will not shut off completely, allowing water to continue to fill washer, sometimes very slowly. If you shut off one valve (where the hose comes from the household plumbing) at a time you may be able to tell which valve is the culprit. The hot is a single coil valve, the cold is a multi coil valve. Both are the part where the hoses connect onto the machine.
To access valves, remove 3 phillips head screws at the back of the washer holding the top cover in place. Slide the top back about two inches and lift it off.

I have an LG washing machine model WF-T755A After washing completed, if water not turned off at taps, the unit slowly fills up with water. The last time causing it to overflow and flood the floor

Water inlet valve is not sealing off 100%. Replace inlet valve (the part where the hose attached to the machine). didn't find that exact model listed so couldn't give you a part number. Usually LG's have a separate valve for the cold and the hot. If you turn off one valve where hoses connect to household plumbing you should be able to figure out if it is the hot or cold. (most often it is the cold) Leave both valves off when not using washer until fixed. (note: usually on LG washers, if you have unit connected to power and the door closed, if it fills with water as your machine did, the water level switch will trip and automatically pump the water out, even if washer is not in use and the power is "off".)

Water accumulates inside the washer

i guess you have washer drain pipe plumbed into a spigot on the sink trap. if so, when you empty sink, some of the water goes down the washer drain pipe and ends up filling your machine.
to cure, take the drain pipe as high up as possible under the sink in a swan neck and that should cure it. its a common problem
