Might be your gap is set to high. try moving the right lever from A to B for example and see if it clears it out. Also might be your parallelism, you will find to hex screws on the right and left of the platen assy that u can adjust. This will balance out the shuttle if one side is printing to light and another is printing to dark. Rory 708-597-4222

How do I print Microsoft Word documents on an IBM 6400 matrix printer?

What driver are you using for the printer?

Also, when you go to print the document, you will see a printer listed on the top of the print menu screen.

Next to that, there will be a down arrow. Click on the drop down arrow and select the IBM InfoPrint printer you want.

Do you get x64 printer drivers for an IBM 6400 print device, or is it best to just use the Generic Text driver ?

Load the drivers from IBM's web site. But.. depending what Windows ver. you are on go to install new hardware. Windows will find the drivers itself.

IBM 6400 Dot Matrix Printer - Need Drivers for Windows XP

Try running couple of these test, to see if it might be another issue.
It should be printing these test at 1500 Line Per Minute... ?
1500LPM is at 10CPI if you have (Font size: 6, 8, 12, 14) it will make a difference.
Change your driver to Generic/Text, rerun your report... any difference?

IBM 4234 dot matrix

Sounds like the configured paper sized does not match the actual paper page height. So that when it does Top Of Form paper movement the paper stops slightly too low. Doing several form feeds should confirm this. If this is it then reconfigure the paper size to match the paper. Also measure to paper to see if it matches what you want it to be.

Did you check the lines per page setting on the printer? For normal 11" length forms, the setting should be 66lpp.
