I am having problems receiving faxes. Senders report getting a busy signal on the phone line and a return of their faxes. We get a dial tone at the home office and can send faxes. We tried changing the computer setting of the user name and this worked for a day or so. Thanks for your help.

Make sure that the fax header contains the full 10-digit telephone number of your HP fax product, including the area code. To modify the fax header, use the following steps:
Press the Setup button () on the product control panel.
Press 4 for Basic Fax Setup, and then press 1 for Fax Header.
Type personal or company information using the keypad, and then press OK.
Type the phone number, including area code, for your HP fax product, and then press OK.
Dial 1-888-HPFaxme and send a fax to the HP Fax Test Service.
when you installed did you get the fax setup wizard during the installation. If not, you can get it by opening hp solution center-> settings-> fax settings-> fax setup wizard. You can have the HP solution center icon in the desktop or try with hp Director.
if not you can look at the
hard-copy user guide walks you through all the setup variations, depending on what type of line you have, what components (answering machine, for example), and how you want to handle incoming calls and faxes.

*Configure the machine to start reception at a lower speed. *If the local machine received several pages of a larger document successfully, ask the remote user to transmit the document in several smaller parts.
I don't have a 6310 but I do have 4 printers one of which is a 5610. I never bothered w/ a reset switch because I would just turn the printer off, then unplug everying for 2min. Then I would reconnect everything back. If it doesn't work, I suggest you uninstall the software and reinstall it again. Let me know if this helps.
hi, i would like to know if you have an HP officejet 6300 fax icon???if you have try to print the document using the fax icon DO NOT used the normal HP officejet series icon.if you did used the fax icon it will display the FAX dialog box,input the necessary information needed.just follow the window..
i believe you can now send the fax..
