It is either a faulty board or your CPU is not connected properly. Check the CPU is "flat" in the socket and no pins are bent. also, ensure the thermal paste is evenly spread and fan plate flush against CPU. Failing that, ensure all your earthing screws are installed and your display is working correctly.

I think you installed windows xp sp3, try re installing with windows xp sp2 because microsoft removed support for high definition audio in sp3 version of xp, if you dont want to re-install or you want to use sp3, download the high definition audio update (kb835221.exe).

Your processor must be overheating, check if your processor heatsink's colling fan working, if yes, try to remove the processor heatsink and re -install it properly( your heatsink is probably not seated properly in processor). or check if your video card fan is working. and please install additional chassis fan for better cooling.
