A plasma tv does not have a color wheel. Only DLP projection sets have a color wheel.

Test

Ballast Lamp provide back light in DLP TV and if its bad / broken TV wont power up. If lamp is weak, dark or less bright picture will come in screen. Color wheel is responsible for colors in picture and if its broke, TV wont power up and common problem with color wheel is high pitch noise while it spins.

I need help with my DLP TV

If you have verified the votages are there at the color wheel and its not spinning the color wheel is most likely defective. the sound you hear when spinning by hand is most likely the bearing but that shouldnt stop it from spinning. but as i said if the supply voltage is present but it still wont spin. the color wheel must be defective.

Can you help

Hello Brandon B
Great Job at trying to fix your own TV.....Bravo!! Ok, you may very well have a bad Color wheel. You have already change your Ballast and Lamp. The lamp would have been my first step. If you have a defective color this will surely cause the set not to come on. The DM board detects what going on with the color wheel and will not start the lamp. There are 2 types of color wheel listed for this TV.

My DLP TV wont turn on.

As part of the power up sequence on the Samsung HLP-4336W the lamp isn't turned until timing pulses are detected from the color wheel. The color wheel motor is powered through the flat brown four conductor ribbon cable and the timing pulses are detected over the the three conductor ribbon table.

Rca r52wm24 no power on

#1 problem for this TV. Check to see if your color wheel is spinning. The lamp will not light if the color wheel is not spinning. This color wheel goes bad easily.

Missing Color.

the color wheel may spin but if you hear noise when it spins it's bad. the jumper is used when replacing one type of color wheel for a nother type. so donot remove jumper unless you've replaced the color wheel and the picture is bad. if the color wheel is good replace the DMD board. if the DMD is not available replace the optical engine.

Toshiba #62HM95

I am wondering if this sound might be your color wheel spinning. The color wheel often makes a low humming noise as it spins. Try checking to see if this is not the source of your noise. You need the color wheel to generate the colors needed to turn the B&W picture generated by the DLP into a color picture.

Thank you,
