Take it to a knowledgeable repair center and have it service. I can't think of anything that would break to cause this. I'd imagine something is frozen and not moving freely. When you take it in to have it checked, the person looking at it should immediately try the stitch selector operation, the reverse button operation and look under the removable cam, in the back, to check for cracks in the fixed cam. If they don't look at these items, check with someone else about working on the machine.

Prelude. How can I adjust a feed dog to go left to right?

Sewing machine feed dogs generally do not move sideways. They move only forward or backward. Embroidery machines will stitch in all directions but only because they use hoops and not feed dogs to move the fabric. If you need the stitch to go a different direction, you can try rotating the fabric. Free motion quilting uses your hands to move the fabric under the needle but the feed dogs are not in use.

The little Teeth/feeder under the foot doesn't push the fabric out. The fabric doesn't move

check where the direction button/lever is
it controls the feed mechanism and if it is in the middle the teeth will just go up and down
set it one way and it moves forward and set the other way will go in reverse
it is graduated to provide a stitch length ( number of stitches per 1")

I have a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 183. I can't get it to feed fabric. The footer will move back and forth, but not up and down. So it's making stitches, but will only feed if I manually pull the fabric...

Do you have the feed dogs dropped? Check the feed dog and also the pressure on the presser foot. This knob is located at the left on the top of the machine. The normal setting is 4.

Feed dogs are not pulling the material back

White sewing machine model 510, feed dog problem; fabric is not moving; I must firmly pull fabric through.

The feed dog is moving; fabric is not.

The fabric is not feeding properly; the fabric goes back and forth. However, the fabric does not continue to move away from me.

The feed dog is positioned up and is not smooth, it feels rough when I touch it with my fingers.

Because I had not used this sewing machine for a couple of years, before sewing, I cleaned the inside with the wire brush that came with the machine.

In an attempt to trouble shoot the problem, I applied varying pressure foot levels and stitch lengths.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the problem?

My kenmore 385 won't feed fabric

Check to see what pattern is selected. Be sure it isn't the buttonhole.Select straight stitch.Move the stitch length setting to 4.Turn the handwheel and see if the feed dogs move forward. Press the reverse lever and see if they move backwards. Select straight stretch stitch and turn the wheel to see if the feed dogs move forward and backward.Check the presser foot release on top of the machine and make sure there is pressure on the foot.
Sometimes the reverse assembly on this machine stops working because it has the wrong type of grease on it and it turns into a hard gummy mess that won't let it work.

Fabric stuck when sewing

Several things could be happening. It may be the hook/needle timing. Or it could be the feeddogs are not moving (that's the toothy looking part under the presser foot that moves the fabric). Recommend removing thread and bobbin (needle and presser foot). Slowly move the handwheel and put your finger on top of the feeddogs to determine if they are moving back and forth and are high enough to move the fabric. Check to make sure you had not manually lowered the feed dogs. You may need to take it to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for their assistance. Machine works but doesnt move forward

Could be that the feed dog is in the down position. The feed dog consists of serrated sections which move together under the fabric and move it under the needle. Run the machine unthreaded and you should see the serrated sections lift above the needle plate, move forward and then drop again. If this doesn't happen the "drop feed dog" knob on the front of the machine could be pushed in. Look for a small knob about 1/2 inch across on the right front of the machine. Push on it and move it sideways at the same time. If it pops out this means that the feed dog is now up and you should be able to sew.
