Dometic rooftop a/c compressor will not shut off. The only way to stop the compressor is to shut it off at the breaker. The fan and all other funtions operate properly from the thermostat. I tried replacing the relay board thinking it was a stuck relay but that did not work. I looked at the capacitors and they look good (not bulging). Not sure what the problem is. Need suggestions! Thanks

I had the exact same problem, duo-therm AC unit on my RV the compressor ran continuosly, had to shut it off at the breaker. I too replaced the relay board thinking it was a stuck relay but the problem was still there. Good news is I found the problem. I took the cover off the thermostat panel inside the coach and found the thermostat wire marked "cool", was loose. I tightened this connection and the compressor shut down. Looks like the compressor and fan use seperated thermostat wires. Easy fix, and now I have a spare relay board that I didnt end up needing in the first place :-) Solution= check your thermostat connections at the terminal block inside your thermostat panel, they are probably loose.

E1-Automatic filter clean reminder.
Turn the air conditioner OFF and unplug it. NOTE: The air conditioner must be unplugged for the automatic filter clean timer to reset.
Clean the filter. See the Care and Cleaning section in your use&care manual. After cleaning, replace the filter and plug the air conditioner back in.

This is a RV rooftop unit. The unit does not have the technology built into it that you suggest. It is very basic. This still does not account for why the compressor comes on regardless of the conditions.

When the thermostat calls for unit to shut down fan stops compressor stays on and will not shut downn untill breaker is turned off

It sounds like the contactor is stuck in it's closed posation Try tapping it with the plastic end of a screwdriver. If it then starts to work then you will probably have to change the contactor.

Good luck,

Compressor wont cycle off

Replace the contactor on top of the compressor. It is not telling the compressor to shut down

Blows cold but shuts down no freeze up

Check the capacitor. It should be a dual capacitor , runs both compressor and fan. This sounds like your problem only because both the compressor and the fan go out together. Good Luck Hope I helped

Compressor starts and doesn't stop

Relay for the compressor may be stuck ( Contacts welded) both the fan and the compressor should operate at the same time. Have the relay(s) checked and possibly replaced.
