Navman 4500 fish finder w/transom mount transducer

My almost new fish finder cannot find the transducer and goes in to simulate mode. I purchased a new transducer only to find out that the transducer was apparently not the problem. Does anyone have a similar problem with the navman and, if so, is there a fix or solution? LB

I have exactly the same problem. I have tried to call Navman customer service several times. I usually get only a recording. Once, I spoke to someone who barely spoke English and I am sure they were in a foreign country. They gave me Navman's customer service number which is a non working number. This was a very expensive system and I too would appreciate any help.

I finally got an email reply from Navman. If the unit is less than two years old (mine is not) they will repair it. If it is over two years old, or if you can't prove that it is less than two years old, you can ship it to them and they will repair it for the low, low price of 355 US dollars.

Pretty nice of them since it appears these units are highly problematic isn't it? I am wondering if they guarantee their fix, or just have you on the hook for another 355 dollars later.

Good Luck Everyone,

Walt

Hi I live in NZ and have a Humminbird 383c GPS Chartplottter which was purchased in the US. approx 2 years ago.It has a transom mounted transducer which I mounted in a piece of plastic pipe, epoxied in the...

Don,

We would recommend that you replace the transducer (if you want to keep the transducer inside the hull you may use the
XP 9 20 T with temperature and you can use epoxy to mount the transducer) If you want to keep in the compartment you have created you may want to just put water in the compartment with the transducer so its not shooting through the air.

If you have any other questions please email customer service at [email protected]

Hi. Just wondering how should the transducer for my humminbird 525 fish finder/sounder be installed correctly? Thanks

You can take a picture of the transom of your boat and email it to Humminbird and they will email it back to you where the transducer should be mounted at. Our email address is [email protected].

My furuno depth finder gives me crazy depth readings after i go over 10knots..whats the problem?

Turbulence on the transducer is almost certain. If transom mounted, **** it slightly deeper aft and ensure that the leading edge is not exposed. If through hull, call me 847-746-0100

CAN I POWER MY FISH FINDER GOING DIRECTLY TO THE

Yes you can. Basically the red wire goes to the fuse box connection. The fuse box should then be wired into the positive battery terminal. The black wire is the negative ground wire and needs to go directly back to your negative battery terminal or to a common negative buss bar.

Raymarine a65 transducer 200kh fine 50kh not reading bottom

First do a factory reset and determine that all the setting are correct. You can get this info from the manual. Remember you will loose any saved way points when you do the reset. If that does not sort you out;Remove transducer from transom mount and duck tape it to a broom stick so that the transducer face is facing down. With the boat standing still in calm water and the ducer hooked to the DSM25 push it below the water and see if it see bottom on 50khz.The idea here is to get the ducer in another location to see that it is not getting reflections of the boat. 50Khz is very prone to reflecting of stuff around it. If you still have a problem I would send the ducer and DSM25 unit back under warrant .No need to send A65 back it should not have a problem.

Navman 4150 fishfinder

Depth: Could be for a number of reasons, too deep for the sounder - check the manual for it's max depth. Dirty water, sounder unable to penetrate through to the bottom. Weed or other debris covering the transducer. Transducer on a swing mount & being pushed out of alignment then dropping back in once stopped.

Speed: Is the speed readout controlled by a GPS or paddlewheel? If it's GPS, check the power connection of the sounder, may be loose which would also cause the depth to 'drop out'. If it's paddlewheel, you're down to bad connections or faulty unit.
