Ur tv have 2 long buffer boards that help the Plasma screen panel to have a backlight to produce a picture. Those 2 long buffer boards either one it is dead or both 2 long buffer boards are dead. Those 2 long buffer boards it is the causes.U must have some mechanical skills and some basic electronic skills, like to take out those 2 long buffer boards out and have test and replaces those ethier long buffer boards it is dead or both 2 long buffer boards. If u have no mechanical skills and electronic skills.Best just call and take estamate of many prices of those tvs shop in ur cities area for the best prices and pick one tv shop and get ur tv repair.

SOURCE: made popping sound then picture went black

I have the Vizio JV50P (Plasma) after 2 months it's started to make a loud pop sound then no picture. Vizio sent a third part repair man to replace the power board, main board, left and right sustainer boards and no less then 24 hours later... I had the same issue. I was just on the phone this evening with "Vizio level 3 support" and they out right lied to me. They told me they never heard of this issue before and yet it all over the internet. Shame on me for not searching the internet more thoroughly for known issues with Vizio products. If I had I would have easily found the term that seems to have associated itself with the Vizio’s line of flat panel TV’s ‘The Pop Of Death”

I am current climbing the Vizio Org Chart to get my money back. I have spoken from level 1 thru level 3 tech support. Who were willing to replace the defective unit with a refurbished unit!!! NO WAY! Then I spoke with a customer service rep and then his supervisor. “No Help!!!” They read from a script and showed no compassion for my issue. They too wanted to send me a refurbished set that is only covered by the balance of my warranty! A set that has the same issue that they can not even prevent from occurring and sets made as recent as 9/07 (manufactures date), new sets! I just left a voice mail message with the Customer Service Manager of Vizio corporate (aka V, inc.) and will await his call back tomorrow. I then searched the internet and found the term that seems to be growing in association to Vizio… ‘The Pop Of Death’ I can not wait to hit him with that term tomorrow! If I do not hear back from him, I will contact his superior. It’s very easy to find that information on the BBB. As far as I am concern Vizio is not only a poor product but a deceptive company who so far does not stand by their product. I will follow up this post in a week or so.

SOURCE: there was a pop sound to the baCK OF THE TV AND NO

Y Sustainer problem. However, normally they have to change both Y Sus and Z Sus boards at the same time. If you lucky than it's just a fuse on the Y sustainer blown (the chance is very rare) otherwise the IPM (Intelligence Power Module) on the Y/X sustainer board is short. more then likely if you can get the IPM off of the board you will see that the components are shot, that is the popping noise you heard. shopjimmy.com has these boards some are cheap some are not...good luck

Have an old sony HDTV proj tv, and the picture went out last night. I heard sort of a "pop" then no picture

Pop sound shows that some thing went wrong inside TV and most probably any part got busted.
Let me know model number of your Sony TV and does its standby red light blinking? if yes, how many times it blinks between 3 seconds interval.

I have a Philips Plasma tv 42pf5321d/37 with sound but no picture

Thats the great sound of Exploding capacitors on either the power supply board. or another one in there. Now the set is in fault protection. It tried to warn you with the RED blinking LED that there was something amiss by shutting itself down. When you unplugged you reset the error and allowed it to do it again.

No picture, just a high pitch sound

Sounds like the flyback and horz output is shorted.
