Printer Driver for LaseeJet 1022

This seems to be a problem on these printers. I have five of them on my network and I had to use a generic driver to make them stop shutting off the print spooler on my print server. I use the LaserJet III driver which is a good HP generic driver. I found it to be best to uninstall all of the 1022 software and install the printer using the above driver that is part of the windows operation system therefore there is no need to download one.

Go to the HP website (www.hp.com) > click download drivers and firmware or support > type in HP laserjet 1022 > click the search arrows > click on you printer model > choose the operating system. If Windows 7 drivers aren't available yet the Windows Vista drivers should work just as well for the time being.

That's wrong, The HPLJ1005 doesn't support windows vista.
Altough, the link cene765 is pointing to is for the HPLJ1005P which has vista drivers though these are two completely different printers. Searching the web for custom drivers now, will post solution if finding any.

It is possible that you have the wrong driver installed. You may try removing the printer and reinstalling it using the driver on the disk that came with the device.

Also, if you have recently replaced the toner cartridge verify that you removed the protective tape that is supposed to be removed before placing the toner cartridge in the machine.

Finally, if you are using Vista or an operating system other than Windows XP, you should check HP's website to determine if there is updated software for your operating system.

Since you're mentioning policies, you've probably got a bit more background than most.

Check your update histories. You're looking for the same correction/time-factor with both XP/Vista.

Verify the driver version. Download the newest driver. Try it on one machine. Try the previous one.

Look at other printer drivers installed. Multifunction printers are the worst for conflicts and hogging resources.

You need to reinstall the printer driver.
First check which operating system is used with your product? After that download the software from Download  Full Feature Software and Drivers.
How to Uninstall the printer Software :-
Follow the steps below to remove the hp LaserJet 1020 series software from the computer:

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
2. For the Windows Desktop, click Start , click Programs or All Programs , and then clickhp LaserJet xxxx series .
3. Click Uninstall hp LaserJet xxxx series .
4. Follow the messages on the screen to remove the software.
5. Reboot the computer when instructed.

OR
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
2. For the Windows Desktop, click Start , click Crontrol panel, select add\remove(XP) or program future (VISTA).
3. Click Uninstall hp LaserJet xxxx series .
4. Follow the messages on the screen to remove the software.
5. Reboot the computer when instructed.
 After restart install the printer driver and follow the screen instructed.
