Since you didn't mention the model number, I have to be kind of general.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Why does the light / safety switch stay on when the door latches shut ?

Most likely there is a part missing from the door latch mechanism that you need. This probably broke off when the handle failed. It would be a tab or wedge shaped piece of plastic that strikes the door switch and pushes the switch closed when the door is completely shut. You will need to find that piece and glue it back on or get a new handle assembly from Samsung.

How do I remove the oven door on my GE range

With oven door about a 1/2" from being closed, try holding door from each side and lift straight up. (slides of actual hinge). A little tug motion on each side will get it to unsnap from a socket. You can open door a little more to clear door moving up. When ready to put back, slide it back on hinges and moving down will kind of snap in place. No screw or button to push.

The door handle on my microwave broke off at bottom of the door. The screws holding the handle on are not visible from the back of the door. How do I access the screws to replace the handle. GE Profile...

The back of the door will have a moulded surround that will be fixed with allen heads or small screws. Remove the inside cover of the door and you will see the holes for the handle.

Door wont open

After unplugging the microwave, I took the side/top panel off by removing the screws on the back*. Inside I found the piece that had broken off the part that pushes the door release. I then glued this piece back on using "Extreme Power" medium advanced performance instant adhesive. I bought this glue in a hobby shop in Richardson, Texas. I waited 12 hours for the glue to set. The door has been opening for the last two days.
*With the cover off, you can open the door by pushing the door release.

Getting to the circuit board

First, remove the plastic vent / louver going across the top of the unit. Once that's off, you should see one phillips screw at the top of the control panel frame. Remove that screw, then lift up and out on the control panel assembly. You're there!

No power from Whirlpool.

IF YOU HAVE THE MICRWAVE PLUGGED IN AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPS IMMEDIATELY WHEN SET,
CHECK THE DOOR HOOKS THAT TRIP THE DOOR SWITCHES. BOTH SHOULD BE SPRING LOADED. THERE SHOULD BE TWO HOOKS ON THE DOOR. IF O.K., CHECK THE DOOR SWITCHES. THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE. IF ONE OF THEM IS SHORTED CLOSED,
THE MONITOR SWITCH WILL CAUSE A DEAD SHORT ACROSS THE FUSE. THE FUSE MAY BE HOLDING BETTER THAN YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER.

Kitchenaid model KHHS179LSS Microwave oven handle replacement

There is a pin holding the door on upper right hand corner of the door. Holding the door in the open position, lift up on the door a little and remove the pin. The door will come off. There are two screws on the edges of the door on the end where the handle is located. Remove the screws. Now, Take a slim screw driver, and carefully pry between the inside door panel and the ourside door panel starting at the end where the door handle is. Lift the inside of the door out. The opposite end of the inside door panel will come out last. Believe me, this works. Getting it back together is a little bit different, but it snaps back together without using tools. Just put the inside of the door back by laying it down with the handle side down after you have replaced the handle of course. Now, pushing in on the inside of the door panel starting on the handle side, start with lining up the panel and push gently. It will go back into place much much easier than it comes out.

Microwave touch panel is unhinged at the bottom

The mounting tabs on the control panel frame have cracked off most likely due to age, heat, or imperfections in the plastic.

If the tape idea doesn't appeal to you (*grin*) it will need a new control panel frame. That normally comes with a new keypad, but I would need the model number to be sure.

It is probably going to be referred to as the control panel in the parts list and it should run about $50 plus shipping.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

Also, these units have mini-manuals hidden behind the control panel and they're very handy to use.

If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Normally you would unplug the oven from the wall, remove the 2 or 3 screws holding the grille in place, remove the screw at the top of the control panel frame, then CAREFULLY lift up and out to remove it.

Then you can mark and/or photograph the wires to be sure they all get back in the same place. Then you can see how the circuit board would come out and then go into the new control panel frame.

If you don't want to replace it, I would suggest that you get it squeaky clean and dry and use a small amount of household cement or Elmer's Glue-All (not super glue) on just the bottom edge, then temporarily use tape to hold it firmly in place until it has cured and dried.

Please write back with more details if you need further help.

Removing the microwave door

In many cases, microwave door panels are held together by hidden hooks or catches that ave to be separated by a thin, strong tool such as a putty knife. I've attached a photo that should serve as a good example.
