Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

If your camera is five or more years old, chances are you need a new battery. They are readily available at camera stores, or on-line, at Amazon, B&H, J&R and other internet retailers. I have had good luck with LENMAR brand, or you can pay a bit more for the Canon brand. Look on your battery for the number and type battery. I believe it's the NB-4L, but be sure to double check.

My fuji finepix s5000 has lost power

see this causes and proceed . God bless you
If the camera won't turn on, check the batteries, or connect the camera to an AC adapter. If that doesn't work, remove all batteries, disconnect the AC adapter, wait a minute, reinsert batteries and reconnect the adapter.
If the flash doesn't work, the camera won't take pictures, or the screen keeps turning off, check that the batteries are strong.

Camera was probably dropped. Motorized autofocus lens was probably damaged when dropped. It doesn't get more of a big deal than this. Depending on age of camera, it may be a ''wipe-out.''

Ps... I'm saying ''probably'' dropped because I didn't see it happen, but this is precisely what happens when they are dropped. It doesn't take much of a ''jolt'' to do the damage, and there is usually never any external damage.

If unused for any length of time, rechargeable batteries lose their ability to retain a charge. Try it with a brand new, fully-charged battery. FWIW, I recharge all my camera and flashgun batteries monthly.

Just bought a usb cord charger for my nikon coolpix s203 and its been dead fir a couple of days and I wont turn on

You left your camera on for a couple of days? I'd think your batteries are completely drained. The S203 doesn't charge batteries via the USB port. Try charging the batteries overnight using the supplied MH-63 charger.

If that doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we'll go on from there.

When I turn on my kodak easyshare it turns itself straight off. I have replaed the battery with a new item and recharged but to no avail.

Is the battery door of your camera not closed properly? Try holding the door firmly and cleaning the points in which the battery touches the door.
If that doesn't work, plug your camera via USB to see if it can hold a charge at all.
If your camera will not power via USB, that means that it isn't your battery that's dead or broken, but something internal that will need to be repaired by Kodak customer service.
