Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Hi, Unfortunately it sounds like the camera is beyond repair. When a camera's dropped like that there's a 50/50 chance that a mechanism in the lens has been broken and it's repairable. From the sounds of yours though, the fact that it won't come back out when you turn the camera on, it sounds like you're better off getting a new camera.

When turning on the camera the lense comes out and then goes right back in. New battery and memory card

Hi! Try putting your camera down on flat surface with lens facing up. Look at the outer ring of your lens and locate the small round lens located at 11 o'clock. Clean this with a que tip and see if solves your problem. This little lens works with cameras auto focus and if dirty will cause your problem. Good luck!

M341 My Camara stop to Function and the lens outside each time that press the boton to on Does noise and the screen up 1 second and inmidiat turn off

Ok what you got here is ether a stuck lens motor or a bad autofocus sensor. Each will require that you take it to a shop for repair. you can try to take the batteries out then place the m back in then try it but if all else fails you need to take it to a shop sorry to be the delivery boy of bad news but that is just what it is.

For my help and information all I ask is you do give me a positve rating or feedback, Thanks

Camera goes off

I may be able to help with your Kodak EasyShare Z740 that turns itself off.

It may be a 'lens extending' problem, or it might be fixed with a combination of button presses to reset it while turning it on.

Try these steps to fix your camera.

I hope that helps.

Kodak Z700

Hi,

Tentative solution:
I had the identical problem. I went as far as disassembling the camera ... not recommended.

Instead of fussing with the lens cover, I pressed on the lens assembly (gently), the lens retracted and the lens cover closed.

My camera works now. It will be my last Kodak.

Good Luck,
Mike
