Sorry for the delay. I will need to look up some reference materials and drawings on this before I can aupply an acurate answer. Been one of those nights and I apoligize for the delay.
Still trying to get some reference materials but Keurig is not very helpful on their materials. The Keurig coffee making machine is not assembled with disassembly of the Keurig in mind. They are very difficult to take apart and even harder to fix. In the mean time try backing that screw off just a little bit to see if this helps releas the cover and keep trying the release as it may be out of alignment. This is not one of thier common issues as I can find liitle on this type of problem and have not seen this myself. Most times when a cover gets jammed there is an alignment orbinding issue.
I just realized I have been looking and calling your machine Keurig and now have found some references and tips on the Krups. These machine use tamper proof screw in a triangle shape which are not easy to come by. If you have an old screwdriver you can file down to fit in the slot is cheaper than buying a bit ot scredriver for this. Still have not found a solution to the jamming issue and I am still sure there is either a broken release or alignment problem. I will get more for you shortly
After reviewing the drawings I need you to try and use the return lever C awhile gently twisting and rocking the brew basket along with wiggling and depressing the release lever. Something must be binding or the release lever is either broken or bent. Also check from above in the coffee chute to see if something has come loose and fallen in the basket. I will get back with you after reading more and seeing if this has happened before.
Is there any way your filter basket was not inserted correctly and did you have to force the cover closed. If the basket is not inserted correctly the lid will not close. If this was miss aligned then the cover can get jammed.
Hi Again:
I worked on the Krups for quite a while this morning, carefully following your suggestions. Unfortunately it remained tightly jammed. I then removed the screw in the center of cover -- it has been changed to a regular fillips-head screw. Inside were some very flimsy metal pieces that had been misaligned and another screw loosened. I carefully fixed these and reassembled. It was still jammed. It appears to be a problem with the connection between the side release and the top, which no longer exists. Based on this, I will have to send it back to the Krups Service Station. It makes great coffee but is very flimsy in construction. I believe this unit is not repairable but will have to be "replaced". I regret purchasing another one and I will leave a warning on Amazon to avoid this model/product.. Your assistance was very helpful and well worth the price. Thanks again. NHW
Thanks for the information and I do feel sorry that this can't be fixed but most of todays coffe makers are quite frankly junk. The Kuerig which I was focused on to start is a major headach as well and these just aren't made to last, if you saw how they are made inside you would laugh at how cheaply they are put together and then wonder why people get upset. Most makers of these machines have a very liberal return policy because so many get returned. I have gone back to the old standard coffe makers becuase they hold up so much better. Bunn is an excellant machine especially thier comercial machines they seem to last forever. If there is any thing else I can help with please feel free to ask.
Thanks for using our service.
