Dryers could not be simpler devices. I assume that since all you mention is that the dryer is not heating, everything else on the dryer is working as normal. ie. You could put in wet clothes, set the timer start the dryer and the drum starts turning and air comes out of the exhaust. It just happens not to be hot. I am also assuming that you know how to use the drier and that it is not set on tumble (no heat).
If that is the case, the heating element is almost certainly burned out. Basically this is the part of the dryer that glows red (just like an electric stove) when electricity passes through it. Unplug the dryer and see how it can be taken apart. Many open from the top or the back. They are all slightly different. The heating element will be located near the blower fan typically at the bottom of the dryer. Figure out how to get at this, pull the old element out and then replace it with your new one. There will be two electrical connections. You may even see where the element just slides into position by the blower and can be removed with a couple of screws.
You should only need a screw driver to do all of this.
Plug the dryer in and enjoy the warmth.
Investigate these five areas if your dryer is not heating up:
Proper Voltage
If your dryer won't heat up, it's possible that it is not being supplied with the proper voltage. Here are three ways to make sure power is getting to your dryer: First, make sure your dryer is plugged in. Next, check the circuit breaker panel to make sure all the circuit breakers are in the correct positions. Finally, check to make sure no fuses in your fuse panel are blown. Any of these could explain why power is not getting to your dryer.
Heating Element
It is possible that your dryer isn't heating because its heating element is defective. Heating elements are irrepairable. If yours has ceased to function properly, you will have to replace it. Open your dryer's cabinet and locate the heating element so that you can test it.

Thanks for your helpful reply, I have already stripped down the Dryer & found that the wiring to the heating element had shorted out to the back panel. I was going to replace the wiring but when I took the Element unit out it was so fragile after years of thermal cycling that the flimsy core support for the coils of the Elements collapsed rendering defunked. I have ordered up a new Element unit which should arrive soon. Again thanks for taking the time to respond
