During express or timed cooking, opening the oven door does not stop/pause the time display count down. Also after completion of cooking cycle, display will show the normal "Food Is Ready" display. Opening the oven door does not cause the display to revert to current time display. The oven keeps beeping to remind "Food Is Ready" to be removed. Only pressing the "Clear" button will the display revert to current time. Cut circuit breaker off for 30 minutes to reset the oven. After power is restored, reset the time and retest. Same identical problem result. Note that all other microwave functions are working.

You likely have a sticking door switch or damaged door switch mount, or possibly a sticking relay on your control circuit board.

My microwave doesn't work, but display works

I would strongly consider replacing the microwave oven, prices have dropped considerably. The problem you are describing is in the keypad controller board.

Microwave doesn't work

Sounds like you have a faulty control panel. I would use a meter and test the power from the control board to the magnetron and circuit board. Chances are the control panel is faulty

I have a GE microwave with the message sensor error

Hi,
On GE models, "SENSOR ERROR" appears on the display when:
  • Using the sensor feature, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.
  • Steam was not detected in the macimum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time.
Thanks.

Microwave oven shuts off after one minute

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample photo for a typical damper assembly.

What is your model number? We may be able to point you to the full service manual too.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

The best place to order parts for this brand is Tritronics. Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835. Their Web site re-opens tomorrow.
