Meridian platinum will not lock on satellite, stays in search mode

Its very easy , you have windows 8 , swipe you mouse like your going to sign out and close the laptops , look at the internet bar showing you what your connected to and the level of power , click on that and you will see Airplane mode , simply turn it off , If you have a different O.S. win 7 , vista let me know Roy

HI Kkasiala it will work on the voygayer but you need to put the phone in discovery mode. Go to the bluetooth menu. Then hit the options when it comes up you need to pot the phone in discovery mode. Now once it is in discovery mode you hit search and let the phone find the car. The phone only stays in discovery mode for three mintues. It is that simple if you need more help please just ask for more help ok .

The rear brake may be locked up. Page 26.

You should be able to go to a bike shop and they would be able to cut a length to size for your bike if not I have had luck lawn mower shops they do carry chains

You might try leaving the batteries out of the GPS for a few days and then put them back in and set back up GPS. I know Garmin has a download for the loss of satellites on some of their GPS's but not sure if Magellan does or not. I have set up several of the Meridian Golds and have never had any issues with them.

If by 'reboot' you mean to wipe it completely clean then do the following. But if you want to save your waypoints and tracks you should do that first. You can do that to the SD card in the unit or serially to your computer using any number of free or costly software. It'a also a good idea to remove the SD card while wiping the unit, it can do a format of that card.

To wipe it clean, press [menu], then arrow down and press [setup], then arrow down and press [clear memory], then select [all] and press enter. It will ask you if you really want to do that, if you do then slelect [yes] and press that.

Now your GPS is fresh, to whatever satellite configuration its firmware knew about, probably 2004, so you have to set the date, set your approximate location and have the GPS ON for a minimum of 12.5 minutes with as good a clear view of the sky as possible, and do not move the GPS around while it's trying to re-acquire the satellite almanac.

Others will say that this will make your unit no longer be able to receive WAAS augmentation, they are right, but I spent all last year figuring out how to fix that, check http://ray.jerome.jobs.googlepages.com/MagellanWAASfix which at least 100 people I know of have used so far.

I had my meridian platinum do exactly this.
First test on car adaptor if you have one, if this works the batteries are not making connection properly.
I took the six mounting screws out and opened the back, I cleaned the battery connectors up with an alcohol wipe, a pencil eraser is also good for this. Then I bent the battery connectors up ever so slightly on the battery holder side. Reassembled unit, do not over tighten screws. Problem solved.
