The Lexmark OCR software can be downloaded using the installation disc that came with your printer only. The software is not available from the Lexmark website for download. If you lost your disc, feel free to contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

Does the N122OU have OCR capability?

OCR can work on any Scanner, I Believe that the Software is what converts to OCR. I Have A CanoScan N659U. Using Microsoft Office Document Imaging software scanned 150 sheets of genealogy that I do not have to retype. OCR has been around sense about 1928 however, not until about 1974 was the principal used with Flatbed scanners. They do have a few Open source OCR scanning software's available, and they have serval online OCR services. I Prefer the MicroSoft Office 2007 Document Imaging Software myself.

How to use the ocr

The function to do OCR scanning will be part of whatever scanning software you are using with this printer. Probably some scanning software came with the printer. If it doesn't have OCR capability , you'll have to use some third-party software. Just Google OCR software.

You are scanning the pages in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) mode. This allows scanned text to be converted to (editable) text, and is more useful when scanning to a Word document for example.

If you just want to scan a page and archive it, look for a standard (non-OCR) scanning option, and specify PDF as the output format. If it's not available, you can just as well keep the pages in TIFF format, which also allows for multiple pages.
Also, if you have MS Office, there's MS Document Imaging tool included, that allows you to scan to MDI multi-page documents.

If however you want the page OCRed, I don't know which software is included with your scanner, but generally you must investigate the OCR settings to find an option to scan a page with text and images, instead of text only.
Some OCRs require you to select areas that contain text, leaving the rest as pictures, other do it automatically.
If you cannot make friends with your software that's bundled with the device, I would suggest looking for FineReader. Even an older version of FineReader is far superior to any other OCR software I've seen.
Good luck

I can't scan on my lexmark printer model x5650. When I scan a document it gives me the message " Install the OCR from the OCR folder". I can't find the OCR folder in my computer. What should I do".

The Lexmark OCR scan software is available in the installation disk that came with the printer. You can explore the installation disk and look for the Abby setup application in the OCR folder (for Windows). For Mac OS, right-click on the Install icon and choose Show Package Contents. Open Contents folder > open Package folder and manually install the Abby Finereader application.
However, if you don't have the installation disk, contact Lexmark technical support. Thanks.

Hello. The Lexmark OCR software can only be installed using the installation cd for your printer. The scan software is not available for download online since it's a big file. I would advise you to call Lexmark for assistance with the installation cd. They might send you one for free. Hope I can assist you more with this.

I have purchased a Lexmark X4690 but it came without the CD and I would like to use the OCR software that it shows on the menu, is there any way to obtain the CD please?

Hi.

Lexmark does not distribute replacement install disk for all models.

Contact Lexmark here, to see if the disk for your printer is available.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Lexmark Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file, double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

OCR software is included on software and driver downloads.

If you already have driver installed and printer working you can also download a free OCR software.

Ocr software missing. did not scaning

You can install the OCR software from the CD. Run the Setup and you should probably see an option to install "Additional software". Choose "Abbyy...", this is the OCR software you need.
If you don't have the CD anymore you will probably have to call Lexmark Customer Support to order one. I don't think the OCR software is available for download.
