Olympus sp 590uz xd card not recognized by Mac

There are a few things you can try to get your MacBook to recognize your Olympus SD card:
  1. Make sure that the SD card is properly inserted into the card reader or the MacBook's SD card slot.
  2. Check to see if the SD card is locked. Some SD cards have a physical switch that can lock or unlock the card. Make sure the switch is in the unlocked position.
  3. Try using a different card reader or a different SD card to see if the problem is with the card reader or the SD card itself.
  4. Try using a different USB cable to connect the card reader to your MacBook.
  5. Check if your mac has the latest macOS update.
  6. Check if the SD card is formatted in a file system that your Mac can read (ex: exFAT, FAT32).
  7. Try running disk utility on your mac and repair the SD card.
If none of these steps work, it may be an issue with the SD card itself, and may need to be replaced.

I have just started to use my JetBook (SNJB507670) and have two problems. Note that my computer is a MacBook using Tiger O/S). 1. The computer doesn't seem to be aware that there is a 2 Gigabyte SD card...

You have indicated that you have just started using the device. I would assume that you have just purchased it. It would be best if you take it to the store and have them check it. Normally if an SD card is plugged in nothing has to be dont to have it recognized.

Where do you put photo memory card in macbook pro

MacBook Pros before late 2009 contain no SD card slot for the photo memory card to be inserted into. Instead, leave the memory card in the camera, attach the camera via a USB cable and wait for the card to show up on the desktop.

I can not eject a mini dvd i put in the drive

The drive will probably have to be removed since the drives are not meant to accommodate such small disks. ifixit.com has guides.

Once removed, there is a flap on the end that can be unscrewed and the disk should fall out. I've done this to remove an sd card someone shoved into the slot on an iMac.

Brand new apple dvd drive will not accept dvd

The DVD works by just pushing it in far enough till you get resistance, then the drive pulls the DVD in by itself. If after it pulls the DVD in, it just ejects it, The DVD drive thinks you are using an incompatible disk.

You can also try resetting the SMC.
This is how to reset SMC on most modern Mac laptops:

Shutdown your MacBook Air / MacBook Pro
Connect the power adapter to your Mac
On the MacBook/Pro's keyboard, hold down the Shift+Control+Option keys and the Power button at the same time
Release all keys and the power button at the same time
Boot your Mac as usual

Here's the key sequence to hold down:

Reset the SMC of a MacBook Air or Retina MacBook Pro

Do keep in mind that by resetting the SMC you will lose power specific settings, like the time it takes to sleep a Mac and other customizations to power settings. No big deal, but if you have made many changes to your hardware behavior you will want to adjust stuff like sleep behavior again.
Reset SMC of an iMac, Mac Pro, Mac Mini

Resetting SMC is different for non-portable Macs:

Shut down your Mac
Disconnect the power cord
Press and hold the Mac's power button for 5 seconds
Release the button
Reattach the power cables and boot the Mac as usual

Reset the SMC of a MacBook or MacBook Pro's with detachable batteries

sad mac reset the smc Older MacBook laptops with a removable battery can reset SMC with the following approach:

Shutdown the MacBook/Pro and remove the battery
Disconnect the power adapter, hold the Power Key for 10 seconds
Release the power key and reconnect your battery and power adapter
Turn your Mac on
Let boot as usual

Hopefully that will clear up your problems, if not it might be worth a visit to the Apple Store or a certified repair center.

Happy New Year,
Kerry

Laptop wont read sd card

You do not say, but before ejecting an SD card you should use the Safely remove hardware feature. If you do not do so you may damage your SD card, and you run into problems such as you describe.

CD won't eject from MacBook Pro

Keep the eject button held down on switch-on.

Otherwise you'll have to have the drive dismantled.

Macbook screen is flickering is there anything i can do without going to the store to fix it?

Most likely the LCD inverter board is defective (relatively common). Although, before you go to the store try this: 1. Start your mac in "Safe mode" follow these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455 2. Install the latest OS X (or make an update)
