Computer cannot read and play the .mp4 video files from my Sanyo XActi CMOS 1920X 1080 .Is there a software I can download from the net?

Yes.

This is what the Sanyo CG9 Users Manual has to say about viewing videos taken with the camera:

"About video clip files recorded with this camera
You can use Apple’s QuickTime to play back video clips on a computer.
Playback may be possible using other software that supports the ISO
standard MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AAC audio)."

There are many ways to view mpeg-4 videos, but the one that is recommended for your camera from the CG9 support webpage is apple's quicktime available from apple here.

Dvd software for my Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9

You can write a data dvd that will play on any DIVX or XVID dvd player that supports this format:

" ISOstandard MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AAC audio)."

Some Blue-Ray players play this format, like Sony's PS3. The PS3 will play these videos from a thumbdrive.

Some Sanyo camcorders ship with a disk containing commercial software to convert your .MP4 videos to standard dvd video, such as Ulead MovieFactory. If you have lost your disk, Sanyo will not allow you to download it from the website. I cannot recommend where to download commercial software, such as MovieFactory or Nero Vision.

Videos won't convert properly to Windows Movie Maker and more.

try burning onto a dvd from adobe then manually uploading the footage from the dvd to the movie maker. Sometimes movie maker will not do auto if footage is out of focus....balance....or is too shakey.

Mp4 player

You can try Nero 8 (www.nero.com) which has a cool player (Nero Showtime) and a user friendly transcoding/DVD authoring tool (Nero Vision) to offer. You may also consider Videolan VLC (www.videolan.org) which is free, open source, less user-friendly but it supports batch file conversion -- a realloy cool features when you have a dozen+ video files to convert.
