Small white dots have started to appear on our screen, first, on, then a couple days later 2 more, and today we have 6 small white dots on our screen. What is happening to cause this condition?

Your problem is that the DMD device is failing. You're in luck, though. Mitubishi has recently released a replacement DMD device in order to keep repair costs down for the consumer. Take your TV to an authorized Mitsubishi servicer for repairs.

When dust builds up on the DLP heatsink, the DLP chip gets too hot and begins to fail (i.e., the white dots). By replacing the DLP chip the problem can be solved. Youtube has videos that give step-by-step instructions on how to do it. Be sure and clean the DLP heat sink and test the small fan that bows cooling air across it. If the fan isn't working, or the heatsink is not cleaned. The new DLP chip will have a short life.

How  OTRdriver's solution worked for me to clear up my StreetPilot C330 when it...

1- Turn off unit.  2- press and hold the bottom right corner of the screen. 3-While still pressing and holding bottom right corner, press and hold power button and continue holding both until a white screen appears with a black dot. 4- follow the on screen directions and your unit will be back to the day you first got it.

White dot on my samsung DLP 42" screen

Hi,
white dot is from a failure in the dlp chip. it controls 1000s of tiny mirrors which help make up your pix, when the mirrors get stuck a white dot appears. over time more will pop up. Probably in the $300-$500 range to have someone repair.

I have white dots appearing on my samsung dlp.

If the white spots are appearing in different spots or "Moving" it is the DMD board beginning to fail. Samsung DLPs seem to have a lot of DMD board failures. I would expect it to completely fail in the next couple months.

If there are only a couple small white spots that never go away it could be a mirror that is seized on the chip, but it's far more likely that the DMD board is going bad.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !
