If your pin does not work, you need to go to your security location (location of when you set the pin the very first time) to unlock it. If you don't remember that you need to call garmin at 1-800-800-1020 to set up an rma to send the unit in to have it unlocked.

I forgot the pin number to my garmin gps and garmin wont give it
You can call the guy you purchased your Garmin univ 205 from and unlock the PIN and change it from the location he set the PIN at.

Unlock maps
I do know a 'workaround' to Garmin's copy-protection for maps you legally are entitled to use, but before that, when a Garmin Nuvi 205 stops working or behaves strangely, there are two steps you can take yourself to try and get it going again:

  1. Perform a Hard Reset,
  2. Run WebUpdater to reinstall that firmware.

Plugging your Nuvi into a computer's USB port will charge it. You can also use a powered usb hub that has a wall-power plug to act as a charging station for your nuvi without needing a computer at all.

Ask the person from whom you purchased this unit (it does NOT come locked from the factory) what the PIN is. If he/she will not provide the code, ask for a refund. You will NOT be able to use this unit without the correct PIN.

My Garmin says no detailed maps found that support routing? It will not go away and the reset I tried didn't work. ???
Did you try a Hard Reset, or just push the button on the bottom of your Garmin Nuvi 205?

Whenever these devices start acting up, I recommend performing a hard reset of your Gamin Nuvi 205. Also, use Garmin's WebUpdater service to make sure you have the latest software on your device.

Garmin nuvi 205 series, keeps beeping and "loading maps" I tried shutting it off and then holding the reset and turn it back on. it will not turn back on this way. if i push reset w/it on, it shuts off.
You can restore the Nuvi 205 system software to its factory condition by running Garmin's WebUpdater service. You may also want to try a hard reset of your Nuvi.

These are both good steps to take when a Nuvi starts acting up.

My Garmin nuvi 205 will not give voice prompt
The germin nuvi 205 can be pre loaded specific data on the route and has voice. i dont know if yours has been pre loaded, with 3.5 navigation data.
