Hi,
Taking it out is a very difficult process and if you try you will wish that you didn't...I don't know which end of the globe you live in, but hopefully you are in the northern hemisphere, so you are approaching winter and will not need it...

Once cooling is over, take a small spray bottle and fill it half full of Clorox unscented bleach and the other half water...then spray the fan, soaking it well with the bleach water and moving it around by hand so that you get the whole fan...make sure to catch any run off and protect walls, carpets and such from the over spray, so you don't bleach them...

Then let everything sit and dry out....a few days should do the trick...then take compressed air and blow the dried residue that is left out of the fan blades...

Now you have a clean mildew free fan again...

I have mold growing inside where the fan is.

The outer chassis needs to be removed and then gain access to the scroll fan. Once accessable use a mold and mildew remover on everything EXCEPT the evaporator coils. Many mold and mildew removers are very corrosive to evaporators. A well used scotch brite pad works well on any styro-foam and metal. A pot scrubber brush also does a good job on cleaning the scroll fan. Once you finish cleaning use a fresh water squirt bottle to rinse off the mold and mildew cleaner residue as best you can. Place rags in the bottom and rinse. Wring out the rags and rinse again. I personally use Mr. Muscle Mold and Mildew Remover but it is really hard on your hands. Disposable Latex gloves are a must. You will not get rid all of the discoloration off of styrofoam but you will get rid of the smell and the majority of the problem. This is a task a homeowner can do.... just be careful when gain access to the scroll fan.

A load of wet towels was left in the dryer for several days resulting in a strong mildew smell in the dryer. Nothing easy seems to be getting the smell out. Have tried washing with sloutions, baking...

There is a spray called NOK OUT. It is available in most pet stores or you can check it out online at www.nokout.ca . This stuff is amazing and safe!! The trapped lint in the dryer vent can hold the odors also. You can try to clean out the excess lint from the vent assembly. Remove the hose from the rear of the dryer(unplug first) and any panel that will gain access to the vent assembly. I hope that this helps...Besides its free advice.

Smells like mold or mildew

Wash an empty load with bleach. This may wash out mold or mildew stuck in the water lines and pump. If it seems to help, do it again.
This is for internal issues.
If the problem is external, the machine may just need a good cleaning.

Mildew inside bellow.

is this a question? I will assume that you are saying that there is mildew growing below something, possibly the drum, inside the washer. The only way to definately get it out is disassembly and thorough cleaning. Check your discharge hoses to make sure they are not clogged, leaving water in the washer rather than discharging all of it. If you want to kill the mildew/smell, run an empty load or just some rags but throw a cup or two of bleach in the washer. The chlorine will kill the mildew growths. Run a rinse cycle or two before your next load of darks to get the chlorine out (especially if you are having a discharge problem) so you don't inadvertantly bleach your clothes.

Mildew on rubber gasket around door.

This happens when you keep the door shut. Run an empty load with extra chlorine bleach to kill the mold spores. Keep the door open to prevent mold or mildew from growing again.

Laundry smells like mildew after washing

Front load washers retain water that you cant see or get to. There are cleaners for washing machines available. I clean mine every month with alot of bleach , try pouring a half gallon of bleach in the soap insert on a normal wash cycle and an extra rinse would not hurt no clothes of course.
