My 42' TV (model L42FHD37RYX27, serial # J325C40H3) was purchased in Sept. 2009. In the last month, the colors have been coming in fluorescent, the faces look silver and have purple shadows on the forehead and cheeks (almost as if you were looking at a photo negative). I have tried adjusting the picture quality through the menu on the remote control to no avail.
Is this a problem that can be fixed inexpensively or do I need a new TV? In reality the TV has only been working one year considering the fact that we are away for the winters and therefore the TV is not in use during that time.

Check and replace its main power regulator [SMPS] board, as card basis. It has damaged. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
The B & S Code is the date of Mfg. This engine was built in 1994 (first two digits rep. the year), Sept.( the next two digits rep. the month) and the second day of that month. Your engine was built on Sept.2,1994. Your chipper may be one year newer as the engine had to be installed after the date of mfg. Your welcome From North Carolina

What you describe is a classic symptom of burned out fluorescent tubes in the display. I'm assuming this tv is a LCD model...Unseen by the user, there are long, thin, extremely bright, fluorescent tubes along the edges(usually top and bottom) which light up a backscreen so you have a vivid image to look at. (sort of like how a doctor views xray pictures) As the tubes age, they change color and eventually burn out. An excellent example of the same technology is a laptop display or desktop lcd display--same exact design. Hopefully your unit is under warranty because this is an involved repair *if* it can be done. Most often, the whole lcd display unit must be replaced. Definitely shop around for repair facilities if non-warranty is a factor.
The ink cartridges shipped with a new printer are not filled to full capacity as are the ones that you purchase for replacement. Office supply stores "Staples" "Office Depot" etc can refill your cartridges for about half of the cost of a replacement cartridge, I do not reccomend refilling the same cartridge more than twice but even after the second fill you can then trade the cartridge in for a discount on a new one.
Hopefully this helps.
You can also open the printer settings and lower the print resolution for jobs that do not need full color/resolution.

Contact the manufacturer of the tv, in order to activate the warranty you would have had to send in the warranty card with the model and serial number. As a far fetched thought you could check the models at the store you purchased your tv from and see if they match or have a record of your purchase, a lot of places keep that information on big ticket items. Good Luck.
