Rotel RA01 amp - volume control

Hi,
when I play my cd & radio via the amp I can control the volume ok. When I play my record player, the volume immediatley goes to full, even when the volume dial is at it's minimum.
How can I adjust/control the volume?

Make sure you connected your record player in the right inputs. Better try it to a line level auxilliary input that is sure to pass the volume control. hope this helps..

Is there a way to install a aux input on a crosley cr-9 juke box radio? Thanks

You would have to break into the cassette player's audio output section. By finding where the audio joins the main amp of the unit. You couldn't do it via the record input section as that uses a different pre-amp which would not be compatible with CD. Once you find the point where the cassette audio joins the pre-amp section of the main amp, you should be able to take a link, from a pair of phono sockets that you will have to mount somewhere on the unit. If you don't use the cassette anymore than you can disconnect it. If you do want to use the cassette then the best bet is to also install a switch that will switch between the two. You will not be able to have both cassette and CD wires linked to the same pre-amp input. As one will vastly reduce the volume of the other. Which is why you would have to install a switch between the two.

My Dual CS 430 turntable suddenly stopped playing - rest of equipment (radio, CD player, tape deck) okay. Can you help, please?

Amplifiers always take the sound of the turntable via a separate pre-amp from all other systems, such as radio and CD players. This pre-amp can go faulty killing the sound from the turntable only. If the turntable goes through the actions of playing the record, then this is the cause of your trouble.

The unit is connected to a TV via HDMI lead. I am trying to record from an LP record player to dvd via the front connection of the dvd recorder, it is recording but at very low volume?

hi,

You need a phono pre amp between the Recorder and LP. The audio out put of LP player is very low. that why the volume is very low. You should amplify it using a phono pre amp and then connect to the recorder's input.

Before we throw in the towel, turn it off and exercise every control a lot of times throughout its range, particularly the Tape Selectors. Sometimes oxides will develop on seldom used controls and their 'normally closed' contacts will not pass a signal.

Carver stereo amp will only play

That should be normal. The main inputs usually go directly to the power amp. If you want volume control, put a mixer with faders beween them... Radio Shack used to have some inexpensive mixers.
