I'm trying to burn a dvd, and I keep getting the following error "setting dvd+rdl disc layer jump address failed". how do I change the settings on the dvd burner? The media I'm using is the dual layer dvd+r from memorex 8x/8.5gb/240min. According to information from the seller its supposed to be keyed to go from 2.4x to max speed of 8x.

Hello.

The burner is not the problem. There have some problems reported with Memorex DVDs. Try another brand: Verbatim DL is recommended.

Hope this helps.

I have a Daewoo DH 6111D HDD/DVD Recorder. I have recordered a program on HQ on the Hard Drive for 2.5 Hrs. The problem I have is that I cannot Dub this to a DVD disc because there is not enough space...

If you try to burn this on a single layer DVD disk then you will get this error message unless your DVD burn program can compress the video so it can fit on a single layer DVD disc.
OTHERWISE
You need to upgrade your burner to a dual layer burner and burn your video onto a dual layer DVD disc.

What type of disc do you need to record, I bought DVD+RDL but it keeps ejecting

What are you trying to record on.First you need a recorder. You cannot just put a cd or dvd in a player to record. They are play back only. Now what media are you putting in your recorder. If it is a cdr it will not record on dvd. What you said is you are using a dvd+rdl which is a dvd+ media with double layer (meaning 9.4 gig instead of 4.7 data).Any dvd recorder can handle the dl media.Look on the facinfg of the carriage and it will tell tell you the media intened to be used. cdr/cdrw or dvd/dvd-dl.Hope this helps

Hello! I am trying to record movies from my VCR collection to make them on the DVD format. I place the tape in the VCR ...then add a "brand new" DVD into the DVD tray (Sony DVD+R)...I then...

You are probably using a disc format which is not compatible with this model unit. Try using DVD-R instead of DVD+R. That should eliminate your error - and work fine. Give it a try - at this stage it is most likely a set of incorrect DVD formats (you can keep any unrecorded/remaining DVD+R discs for your PC (if it supports them) and use them as data storage).

* Single layer DVD-R 4.7GB/120min/4-16X discs are relatively cheap in a spindle tub (25 or 50 discs) available everywhere. *

The good news is no repair costs at this stage.

Burning dvds with realplayer

DVD discs come in two capacity sizes.
Single layer DVD have a capacity of 4.7 Gb
Dual layer DVD have a capacity of 8.5 Gb
Some DVD burners are single layer burners only and cannot burn dual layer discs.
The error message you are getting would indicate that the disc you are using is not large enough to copy all your program material.
