I have one of the old emerson tv and it doesnt have the menu button so i have to keep turning the channels till the menu button shows up. and when it does show up it says channel setup and the other menu stuff. but from then on it wont let me pick my selection and i wanna set my channels up. please respond asap .....im not sure if this is the right one but it looks like it

You should have a button on your remote which says "display". Pushing that should toggle the ch number off. Hope this helps.

universal remotes are tricky, if you have the pamphlet, often times there are several codes for each brand. you have to try all the emerson codes for your universal even tho the power, volume and channel functions may work with several emerson codes, some of these specialized buttons (like input) may only work on your TV with one specific code.

also, if there are any unlabeled buttons on the universal try them with each new emerson code.
