I bought a esata/sata & ide PCI-E card. After sliding the PCI-E card into the PCI-E port of the ASUS P5KPL-AM SE motherboard, it fail to start up. The PC hang and won't start up. Must I manually change the bios for the pc to recognise the card or what must I do. When I install the software, I get the message that the Jmicron jmb36X scsi adapter is not found. Any Suggestions. Thank you. George.

I NEED TO KNOW THE MANF. & MODEL OF THIS CARD BEFORE GOING MUCH FURTHER. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR MOTHERBOARD 'THINKS' IT IS A RAID OR SCSI CONTROLLER. ALSO, PLASE LET ME KNOW WHAT OS YOU ARE TRYING TO BOOT UP.

SOURCE: SATA configuration for MSI P965 Neo --- JMicron hell!

Look at the support page for MSI P965 NEO V2.

The is a link to download the JMicron SATA driver, however, once i booted the driver from a floppy driver by clicking the F6 in WINXP settupt, it did not work - WINXP install would crash.

WTF is this **** with JMicron.
MSI support is pathetic, it does not even have SATA drivers for P965 NEO...

SOURCE: Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP configuring sata as raid

I have 3 hard drives, one I have my windows system files on, and on the others I was planning on doing a mirrored raid. Is this possible? I couldn't get it to work, I put the hard drive mode into RAID mode or ACPI (or whatever the other mode was) and it doesn't allow me to boot into windows or anything, blue screen of death.
Only works in IDE mode, but I cant make it raid using IDE mode :"(

SOURCE: Does not boot from SATA drive.

Hi Grumpy
It sounds like your mainboard is not set up to allow for a SATA boot drive.
Have a look in your bios and ensure the boot order is set to the SATA drive first
Then, make sure the SATA drive is formatted and has an operating system installed.
Alternatively, boot the system from a boot disk ( your XP or Vista disk will allow this) and check to see if the board can see the drive and can read the drive if it is already formatted.
If not, format it and install the O/S onto it and make sure you answer YES to the question " do you wish to boot from this drive?"
Both my systems use SATA drives and I only had a boot fault because the "pre-formatted drive" I bought was not formatted and formatting under windows during O/S installation solved this issue..

How can I attach an IDE printer port

You will need to look for a PCI expansion card. If you go on Google and type in the search PCI LPT card, you will find quite a few ranging in price from $6-$30 each.

Hope this helps

Is it compatible to use a sata hard drive

Not without a host card like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816102065
You don't have any SATA ports on your motherboard. You can use a host card to add those ports in, if you have a free PCI slot.
Have fun and good luck.

ASUS P5KPL-AM SE supports up to 4GB RAM. I think that 1GB RAM is shared with the PCI Express Graphic Card.

For further details about your CPU and Graphic processor, I suggest that you download two small free utilities

Asus P5KPL SE & Sata, Bios "Not Detected Problem"..

The Asus bios won't show SATA devices.
However if you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (or newer operating system then the devices should be detected. If this is not happening then enter the bios -- Storage Configuration -- Configuration Enhanced and set the IDE devices to compatible. This allows all drives to be "seen" and you should then be able to load an OS.

IDE Ports not working on ASUS P5LD2-VM Mobo

Good Day sir, hi, Have you tried to enable the IDE on BIOS setup. If the Bios setup did not solve the IDE problem, check the IDE port of the HARD drive, check if there are bent pins.
If still wont work, you can buy a PCI to IDE/SATA card, this is an expansion card in PCI format with IDE and SATA port.We use this card incase the IDE or SATA on the motherboard gets bad. Connect it on the available PCI slot. Then connect the IDE cable of the Hard disk to this card. Thats it.

My motherboard P5KPL-CM sometimes does not detect my seagate Barracuda SATA HDD (500 GB) at all. plz advise.

In this situation the you need to check the IDE or SATA connector. I have already experience this problem before I tried to replace the IDE cable and I will fix it. Replace the IDE or SATA cable with a new one and make your HDD first boot to your BIOS.

Problem with USB port on Asus P5KPL-AM SE Motherboard

Older motherboards have USB 1.1 ports;
newer motherboards have USB 2.0 ports,
which are over 10 times as fast.

It is Windows (not your motherboard) that should do the "Plug-and-Play" thing for devices connected to your USB port(s).

Note that some devices are USB 2.0, and will *NOT* work when plugged-in to a USB 1.1 port.

Either get a newer motherboard, or get a PCI add-on card that adds USB 2.0 ports.

Secondary IDE channel

the motherboard you have can only support 4 SATA Drives. if you want to use your IDE drives, you have 3 options: 1) buy a SATA to IDE Converter which is around $20-$25. (if you selected this, you can fix the drives into the internal of the pc). 2) buy USB to IDE converter $10-$15. (if you want to fix the drive inside the pc, remove one PCI slot casing cover at the back of the computer casing and use the USB slot at the back of PC). Hope this helps. Good Day!
