I just received a brand new Garmin FR 60 with HRM monitor strap and ANT USB from Amazon. I followed the directions to use the strap[wet the electrodes, strap it over my chest, with the Garmin logo facing up, switch the watch to training mode, with the watch right next to the strap and it says "HRM NOT DECTECTED" even after 10 attempts . Is this a defective product that i need to return?

Navigate using mode button to enter into watch's menu tree for settings/ sport/ run/ heart rate and turn on the heart rate monitor to hopefully detect and scan for the garmin ant+ protocol heart rate strap!

Can't pair garmin forerunner 50 with hrm and food pod

First you have to assume the battery that comes with your HRM would be new - keep in mind that it may be stored in the warehouse for many moons.
Given that, open and take out the battery - that should make a hard reset on the HRM itself. Restore the battery and try the manual pairing again.
The heart icon should pop up again.

Otherwise, you have to suspect the battery is low and need to be replaced.

Good luck

Heart rate zones

Heart rates are known by the garmin software as zones, numeroted 1 up to 9.
You can set on the software your heart rate, based on :
- HR max ;
- intermediate HR, linked to the zones.
Then, when you upload a session in the software, you will analyze the zones you ran in.

Another tip : to set on the Garmin itself, the Zones to ON,then Z0 to ON, and Z0 HRM to ON : here you can indicate your HRM low (ex : 165 for me) and the HRM High (185 for example). Then during your session, an up or down arrow will appear, indicate if you run below your HRM low (aerobic zone), your anaerobic zone (betwin HRM Low and High) or in VO2 max.

Hoping that's clear and that can help you.

Can`t pair Garmin Forerunner 50 with footpod

Hi,

I've been having the same problem. I couldn't pair my footpod, but my heart rate monitor was working. I've only had the 50 for about eight weeks.

I reset the watch, holding view mode and Start/Stop at the same time.
This didn't do any good.

I swapped the battery in the HRM with that in the foot pod. The foot pod synched the HRM didn't.

Solution duff battery. I'd change yours it will probably do the trick.

Hope it helps

Timex M515 Heartb Rate Monitor in correct readings

I´m experienced the same problem of incorrect readings after a long time without use. I cleaned the rubber parts of the chest strap with soap and water, than I use some silicone grease or other silicon liquid to keep the rubber hydrated. Make a careful cleaning in the contact area between the rubber and the plastic parts, the fissure in these area use to be full of "sweat dust".

Nike Triax CV10 - Successful HRM reset 7 November 2008

I had real problems too. Even after repeatedly following the known reset steps everyone else is posting up. Here’s how I got mine going, please forgive the mind bogglingly tedious detail…

First make sure you’re using new good quality batteries. I used Maxell’s, bought in 10’s from Hong Kong on ebay – no problem.

Second, and this is the ESSENTIAL bit…move right away from the computer and any other electromagnetic sources before carrying out the known reset…

Third, follow the known reset steps below, adjusted to what worked for me…

If you press all four buttons of your Nike HRM it will reset. Next time you go to "RUN" mode, it will show "HRM LINK" error. You will now need to "hard reset" the unit.

Nike made a late change to add a "hard reset" to the chest strap. To re-link (re-initialise) the watch you'll need to open the battery door on the chest strap, and use a paper clip (or the equivalent) to push the small gold button in the battery area. There should be a small sticker in the battery compartment that points to the reset button.

The re-initialisation steps for the Nike C10 and CV10 digital HRM's is:

(1) reset the watch
(2) open the battery door on the chest strap
(3) move the watch to RUN mode
(4) press the reset button in the chest strap battery area without removing the battery

Tip - I agree with the suggestion to use a pin or needle and definitely do it with the battery in the hrm.
Tip – Thumb holds battery to stop it from pinging out, other hand performs jiggle with pin until the link is made (it links straightaway if you jiggle it just right!)

(5) replace chest strap battery cover…and smile!

Can Link watch with Heart Monitor

If you can't link the hrm do as detailed in the following link If you press all four buttons of your Nike HRM it will reset. Next time you go to "RUN" mode, it will show "HRM LINK" error. You will now need to "hard reset" the unit. Nike made a late change to add a "hard reset" to the chest strap. There should be a small sticker in the battery compartment that points to the reset button. The re-initialisation steps for the Nike C10 and CV10 digital HRM's is: (1) reset the watch (2) open the battery door on the chest strap (3) move the watch to RUN mode (4) press the reset button in the chest strap battery area (5) put the battery back in the chest strap (if it's not already in - it's possible to push the button without removing the battery) (6) hold both of the electrode to create a signal (probably not necessary - it usually links immediately). My suggestion is to use a very thin needle and do it with the battery in the hrm. Eventually, Nike will either eliminate the hard reset or update the manual to include this info.
