Hello,
Did you happen to drop it accidentally? Or accidentally applied force into your camera? If yes, then there is big chance you will gonna have to replace the whole lens! If not, then it might just be dirt stuck inside your lens mechanism. To fix it, hold your camera with the lens facing the ground. Then, tap your camera repeatedly. Start with light tapping to moderate. If that doesn't work, spray condensed air directly into the lens part of your camera.
Can you please add more info? Did you happen to drop it accidentally? Can you still view previously taken pictures? Do you get any error code when you turn on your camera?
Sure. No I did not drop it. We were traveling on a bridge and taking picture while driving, in a hurry to take more snaps, my wife clicked multiple times with in a span of few secs, and that caused it the lens shutter to get stuck. Later it never retracted with on/off button. No error code. When I press on/off switch, it make some sound and switches off instantly. If I press playback button it remains on for 2-3 sec and switches off with a sound.
OK, thanks for the info. If that is the case, then it probably is not a case of dust stuck in the lens. Try gently - moderately pushing the lens inside while the camera is turning off.

I tried this but sorry this did not help to resolve the issue. In fact I read a solution for the problem in the internet some time back and I already tried it then, but it did not work. Anyways, if there is any other professional solution to this issue, please let me know. Else, I would request you to refund the service fee of $12, as I did not get the workable solution to this problem. Thank you for your time damneddle.
