Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Hp Officejet 6500 won't feed paper

Problem:
The 'drop down paper grabber' gears are not turning, and the printer gives you an error saying to make sure there is paper in the printer.
All of the fixes on the internet are for working printers, and their approach is to clean the rollers if they are not grabbing the paper. They are assuming they are turning properly and the rubber grabbing wheels are wither dirty of dried out.
In my case, however, the gears were not turning, and so the rubber grabbers wheels were not turning, even though the whole 'paper grabber' unit was dropping down properly
Solution:
Just inside the paper loader tray, along the top, there is a metal rod. It is about 1 inch from the front.
The gears from the drop down paper grabber are supposed to meet a gear that resides on this rod and sort of floats on it. However, the gear on my printer slipped to the left, and was not making contact with the other gears.
You can gently put your finger on the gears as you do a copy command, and confirm this.
To fix the printer, I just slid the floating gear over to the right and into place, and the paper began feeding properly.
Why there is nothing to keep the gear in place is a mystery to me.

Will not grab paper. says out of paper when its not

You can try cleaning the rubber wheels with alcohol. Sometimes they become covered in dust and won't grab the paper.

Doesn't feed paper from the tray

Take the tray out and clean the rubber paper grabbers with alcohol. If this does not work they the paper pickup assembly will have to be replaced.

Printer no longer feeds paper from paper tray; I tried cleaning it, it sounds like the printer is trying to grab the paper but it does not grab it.

Remove the paper tray. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) to wipe all around the black "rubberish" wheels right underneath the unit where paper tray goes. I learned that by calling Okidata.

My printer has trouble grabbing the paper from the tray to print. I have to feed it one page at a time with my hand. very annoying.

The pickup rollers need cleaning or there is too much paper in the tray (paper lift spring not strong enough).
Clean the pickup rollers on the tray with Q-Tip / 70% alcohol ... or lens wipes (for glasses and monitor screens).
Use less paper in the tray for now.

Have a Canon PC 735 and it dosn't want to grab paper from tray.

If the wheels do not rurn then it is either a clutch or board problem.

you may have to take the clutch apart and clean it, also some clutches have a felt pad on them after years they turn into sticky, clean off.

Paper "grabber" won't grab

Sounds very similar to my problem. In my case the Feed Switch ( Button on front console) got changed to load from the front tray, although paper was in back. I hit feed switch and changed to rear tray. Now it loaded and printed.
