Ok you are having problems in your convergence pc board area, it is most likely the convergence i c, which needs to be changed but it could also be the capacitors on that circuit you can only find out by troubleshooting .What happens is that the tv senses that something is not right either to high of voltage or to much current going through the ic or capacitors and it automatically turns the tv off before something else gets damage. So what i would recommend is for you to call your nearest electronic professional for him to troubleshoot that area of the tv , also let him know what error code you are getting and he should be able to take it from there,

This will give you an idea on what needs to be done to change the ic for the models as the procedure is almost same. The different models do have different IC's to see what IC each model has go to http://www.ecoustics.com/tl/22530/ hope this helps

how about looking at the output resistors... also look again at the fuses feeding the stks and it could also be the capacitors on that circuit you can only find out by troubleshooting the capacitors around the circuit

The error code # 21 is related to a high voltage shutdown to avoid any radiation from the TV. Once you get this error the X-ray protective circuit makes the TV to turn OFF by itself.
This type of repair is not a DIY due to the number of testing involved and the high voltage around the circuitry.

I would suggest to use a variac to troubleshoot this failure. Start with about 70VAC, if the TV stays ON, it could be the regulation part on the power supply is not regulating the voltage that is going into T951.

If you need the service manual, let me know where to send it.

  • Jaime Hernandez Sep 17, 2008

What is your voltage at the cahode of D971?

  • Jaime Hernandez Sep 17, 2008

It looks like you are not getting the +130VDC after K903, check pin # 4 of K903 to see if you get any voltage to that relay.

Measure the voltage at pin # 3 of IC951, you should have about 166VDC. If you do, remove IC451 and try to power up the TV again.

  • Jaime Hernandez Sep 17, 2008

Install IC451 back on the board. Next step should be to remove the STK393-110 IC and check for open fuses F9A04 AND F9A05 before attempting to power up the TV. If the TV powers up, it means your STK IC is defective.

Most of the time the convergance ic go bad:
but try this:
The 3 flashes of the led when you plug the unit in is the
microprocessor initializing.

This unit has an error code diagnostics.

On the front panel of the unit press and hold the INPUT and MENU
buttons at the same time and hold them down for about 5 or 6 seconds.
The unit should activate it's error code mode.

The led will flash count the number of flashes. It will then pause for
1/2 or 1 second. The led will flash again count the number of flashes.
The unit will repeate this for about 5 or 6 times.

You now have the two digit error code. The first time the led flashed
is the first number of the error code, the next time the led flashed is
the last number of the error code.

12 ----------- indicates no error
21 ------------- X-Ray Protect circuit
22 ------------ Short Protect circuit
23 ------------- Horizontal Deflection failure
24 ------------- Vertical Deflection failure

Most units give a error code "22" short protect circuit. If so check:

Q5A00
C557

If Q5A00 check bad there are other parts that have to be checked or
replaced.

If you are able to do above call a tech to service the unit

  • Anonymous Sep 17, 2008

Depends on how good you are at soldering and unsoldering,
    First check:
CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB.
    then:
the horz. defection is the horz output transistor and and the high voltage transformer/splitter i would check the horz transistor first. see if it's shorted

the DY connections is the connector going to the tube 4 heavy colored wires there is a set of three, this would only require soldering skills to resolder these connectors they are on the main board, i would replace the capacitors no matter what these you can get at radio shack, the out put transistor you will have to know how to work a multi meter to test for short cant help you there, but you could get the part online at like Mcm electronics (capacitors too) high voltage splitter would have to get at a manufacture reseller site

Annie after thinking about this maybe the best thing to do would be to send it into PTS for repair, however there is high voltage in the tubes and on some boards.

Mitsubishi WS48413 makes a clicking sound and turns off right away

this is a V22 chassis circa 2003/2004
you could have an issue in 1 or multiple circuits. it is key if you can determine any error code. Error code is determined by blinking LEDs on front of unit after it shuts down. It will blink a certain number of times, pause then blink another certain number of times. It repeats this cycle 5 times.
12...no fault detected
21...X-Ray protect
22...short circuit protect

23...deflection circuit
Continuous flash...most likely DM circuit.

What does a blinking orange light on 65" Mitsubishi dlp rear projection TV mean?

Self Diagnostics

The V18 Chassis features Self Diagnostics to aid in troubleshooting problems that may cause the set to

automatically turn off or "shut down." The "Timer/Power ON LED" provides an indication of the sets operation,

and the possible cause of a malfunction.

1. Initial Control Circuitry Check

Immediately after the TV is connected to an AC power source:

• The LED flashes three times ... indicating the Microprocessor has initialized and is functioning

properly.

• If the LED does not flash ... the Microprocessor is NOT functioning.

2. Error Code Operational Check

To activate the Error Code Mode, while the set is OFF, press the front panel "INPUT" and "MENU" buttons

at the same time and hold for 5 seconds. The LED will flash denoting a two digit Error Code.

Note: The Front Panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: For Error Code is "24", the LED will flash 2 times, pause, and then flash 4 times.

3. Error Codes

The Error Code designations indicating a malfunction, or no malfunction, are listed below:

"12" ... indicates no error has occurred.

"21" ... X-Ray Protect circuit.

"22" ... Short Protect circuit.

"23" ... Horizontal Deflection failure.

"24" ... Vertical Deflection failure.

The led will flash count the number of flashes. It will then pause for
1/2 or 1 second. The led will flash again count the number of flashes.
The unit will repeate this for about 5 or 6 times.

You now have the two digit error code. The first time the led flashed
is the first number of the error code, the next time the led flashed is
the last number of the error code.

12 ----------- indicates no error
21 ------------- X-Ray Protect circuit
22 ------------ Short Protect circuit
23 ------------- Horizontal Deflection failure
24 ------------- Vertical Deflection failure

Most units give a error code "22" short protect circuit. If so check:

Q5A00
C557

If Q5A00 check bad there are other parts that have to be checked or
replaced.

If you are able to do above call a tech to service the unit
