Sharp Carousel r-530es microwave.Problem: When I push on the door button, door does not open...unless I pull on it (I removed the trim piece). New info: when I push on the button when the door is open, i see a white tab "pop" up then drop back down in the slot that accepts the door's "hook" I continued to push a few times with the door open and eventually the white tab stayed risen(up). I closed the door, pressed the button and it worked 3 times. I tried it again and now it won't open. So I manually opened the door again and when I push the door button, the white tab is rising but falling down again. Obviously I need a certain mechanism part and more importantly, the instructions on how to access and replace that part.
    Thanks!

    Thanks intower
I'm a little confused. You're saying to replace the door mechanism? It seems to me that the problem is with the button release mechanism located on the side of the control panel.(see my explanation) When I press it, it doesn't seem to release the latch(hooks?) which is attached to the door. Please let me know. thanks

I bought a Sharp Microwave Oven with Sensor, Grill and Convention functions, R-967(SL)M, a few years ago in London, United Kingdom. Problem: Now, each time the timer counts down to 1 second (for example, 1 sec. or 2 mins. 1 sec. or XX mins 1 sec.), the heating function just stop as long as the timer shows 1 second. In addition, I relocated to Hong Kong and the local Sharp customer service refused to provide any repair service (even if paying!) since I did not buy the product model in Hong Kong! The warranty period has ended, hence there is not an issue with warranty service. Appreciate if any expert(s) out there could kindly provide assistance or at least offer a direction/suggestion which I could pursue to get the appliance back to working again. Thank you!

Hi bobfol197 ,

Thank you for your question at Fixya,

The solution to your problem is as follows :-

What you need to do , is clean the button from the inside or where it connects to the circuit , a liquid like kerosene or petrol should help cleaning the carbon which is probably avoiding contact with the circuit,

The next thing you can do , is to replace the button itself as it's known to get damaged in this particular device.

If you don't find the button in the market , you can get the direct connection done or an altered button or repaired button put in via a local mechanic if you want to save money.

Hope that helps ...:) In case you have any queries, feel free to contact me.

1.Turn off the supply of electricity to the microwave by unplugging it or shutting off the circuit breaker.

2.Open the door on the microwave.

3.Pry off the inside door panel using a standard screwdriver. Gently pry around the edges of the door panel with the screwdriver until the entire panel is loose. Work the panel off of the door, but be careful not to crack or break it.

4.Unscrew the two to three screws that secure the latching mechanism to the door frame using a Phillips screwdriver. Notice the position of the latch so you can place the new latch in the same position. Remove the old latch once the screws have been removed.

5.Set the new latch in place where the old one was removed and secure it with its screws. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Do not overdrive the screws.

6.Snap the inner door panel back in place and turn on the electricity to the unit.

Hello there, the mechanism for opening microwaves is such that when the button is depressed it raises the hooks which hold the door back. In some microwaves the hooks also have another part which pushes the door out while some units have door hinges which have spring mechanisms which pushes out the door. Depending on what is obtainable on your unit the problem might differ. What you want to do is this, when the door is open press the button and see if the hooks which are supposed to hold the door in place move as expected but considering that the door opens when you pull the problem is more likely from the spring mechanism which is supposed to push the door out.
Try cleaning the hinges and the space in between the door and the control panel. Try this and let me know as any other process might require a replacement part.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

My Miele s8 cat and dog vacuum dust compartment keeps filling up with dust and cat hair

I see this all the time. The red or blue bag holder has either started to bow or it's legs aren't seated on the top of the little depressions. Check that and when you fit new bag remove the hose and check the little door on the bag is open and not closed if it's closed all the rubbish will fill the bag container rather than the bag. If this if the case buy new bag holder common problem.

Bag needed changing there was no burn ing smell or strange noises before i changed bag after bag was changed it wouldnt start. the cord is new no fraying and vac is about 5 years old. didn

I'm not real experienced with this model vac, but I do know that many of the newer vac's are being manufactured with a small button or lever, whatever the particular brand of vac decides would best fit on their unit, that would be located somewhere around the edge of the bag door opening and would need to be depressed by having a bag inside in order for the machine to run. I would check for something of this nature to be sure that during the bag change that you didn't just miss putting it in quite right to depress the go button. Other than that, it's entirely possible that the switch died. If that's the case you'll need to bring it in to a vac repair shop for help.

My e wave microwave appears to be in fine working order until the door is opened. It then trips the breaker and ceases working. Ater the house breaker is reset, the power is restored to the microwave...

You may have a short circuit on the INTERIOR LIGHT BULB circuit in your microwave.

This might explain why the breaker trips every time you open the door.

If so, you would have to unplug and disassemble the unit in order to access the wires and light bulb socket inside the case in order to troubleshoot and repair the problem.

If you are unfamiliar with safe electrical troubleshooting and repair procedures, please be extremely careful or consider hiring an electrician to do the work. There are some hazardous components inside which remain dangerous even after the unit is unplugged.

Good luck.

I have a Kenmore Elite Ultrawave Microwave Hood Combination and am getting an F9 fault code. I hear a rythmic intermittant buzzing, the unit shuts off and the F9 appears on the screen. I have pulled open...

F9 code can mean something different depending upon the particular model.....
1.) IF your Microwave uses "UltraWave technology"/"SmartWave technology"...Then either the Magnetron has failed or the Inverter board has failed OR maybe the control board has failed (HUH?).
2.) IF your Microwave does NOT use "UltraWave technology"/"SmartWave technology" then one or more of the door switches has failed.

** "UltraWave technology"/"SmartWave technology" **
I'll explain a few things about this wonderful technology...
The control board (accepts the pushbutton commands) has to talk to the inverter board to tell it how much power should be applied to the magnetron. The inverter board will then power the magnetron and inform the control board if the magnetron is working OK.
If there is something wrong with the magnetron or inverter board or a there is a communication breakdown between the control board and the inverter board...WA-LA-----F9----

A pretty reliable test for the Magnetron is to operate the oven and listen for a ticking sound 5-6 times about a second apart. If you can hear the ticking....The magnetron has failed..if no ticking, the control or inverter board failed.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

1st the model number appears to be incomplete. Not an issue at this point but will be if you need parts.

You most likely have an interlock problem with one of the 2 door switches or the door interlock mechanism is broken.
There are 3 safety interlock micro switches activated by the door. One for the light, one for the Magnetron and one for the control panel power. If the problem persists with the Magnetron disconnected. The Magnetron safety interlock micro switch is supposed to blow the fuse if the unit is energized with the door open. Check continuity of your door interlocks. Pat particular attention to the NC (normally closed), C (Common) and NO (Normally Open) contacts.
NC should read to C and when the switch is activated read open at which time the NO contact will read to C.

I really suspect a bad microswitch.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi Mark,

It sounds like you have a magnetron problem now or at very least a rectifier that is shorted.

The elevated sound level comes from one of those two components. But since you had a door switch problem I would lean toward the problem being internal to the magnetron. It is common for them to over draw on the circuit going through the door switch before they fail completely.

To test the high voltage components you need a good ohm meter, the magnetron should read under 1 ohm from terminal to terminal and infinite ohms from either terminal to ground. The rectifier or diode should read 0 or low ohms in one direction and high or infinite in the other. BE SURE THE POWER IS OFF BEFORE SERVICING!
