VS205 what does the flashing mail sign mean?

Hi.

We re renting our house, and there's no manual for this phone (NTL VS205)
There is a flashing mail sign (like a text sign on a mobile) in the top right hand corner of the screen. I can't fugure out why it's there, or whether there is some vital message waiting for me that I have missed!

I have tried pushing the clear/mute button and then 2 to play messages, but then it just beeps. There don't appear to be any messages. Can you help?

I also sometimes have a little house icon in the top RH corner too. What's this? Any suggestions gratefully received!

If you subscribe to call answer service with your phone company, a mail indicator might coincide with a stuttering dial tone, to indicate a message waiting. If on the Bell Canada network, dial *98 to check your voicemail. Once all new messages have been listened to, the dial tone will stop stuttering, and the indicator will hopefully follow suit.

Here i found one pdf manual http://tdcollaborative.com/support_downloads.htm for VS205, but downloading asks for cone so maybe need to call or mail them first they have all contacts there. I hope it works.

found my old one
to switch ansaphone modes:
press clear/mute to get TAD ON(or TAD OFF) displayed, then
Answer + Record: TAD ON then press 7 then 1
Answer only (no msgs): TAD ON then 7 then 2
SORTED at last!! :-)
