Top rack not cleaning

Hi ,
Help! I am so frustrated! This is a Kenmore Quiet Guard Deluxe/Ultra Wash built in that is 2 years old. For 6 months we have had a problem with the top rack being wet, but not at all clean. We have figured out the soap dispenser is not opening during the cycles, but we can manually open and close quite easily. model # 665 13722k600, type 575-0
Thanks so much for any insight!

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, we have tried all those options. Nothing appears to be blocked. the "arm" from the top of the diswasher is moving freely etc. The top rack is getting the water, just not the soap at the correct time. That is why I am leaning towards the soap dispenser as the problem. Any other great suggestions of similar experiences?

    Greatly appreciated!

So sick of using half the washer right now with the kids using a million cups etc a day!

I have the same problem with the same model for over a month. Everything spins freely. Can not be the soap dispenser as the bottom is clean. However the top of the door is not. I am tired of re-washing !!! Please help.

Follow-up on the same issue: I tried running a short program and opened the door a couple of times to check the orientation of the arms and the top ones do not turn. Taking the top rack out, the arm can spin freely. However, connecting a hose to the water intake for the top arm does not make it turn. Water comes out of the arm through all the holes but does not make the arm turn... The water pressure at the hose is 45psi which seems plenty to make it turn.
    Any idea?

This is just what is going on with my dishwasher! The top of the door looks dirty after running a load and the items on the top rack are not clean. I ran cycles where I stopped it, positioned the arms and then ran it and checked the arms. Things are moving and there seems to be a least some water hitting the top rack, just not enough to get them clean.

Some dishwashers have a telescoping nozzle in the center on the bottom. If this is blocked by a large pot in the middle of the bottom tray, the nozzle will only extend up into the pot, and not be able to spray the entire top rack.

Also, some models have an arm mounted in the top. Check and see if it can spin freely, and if it's nozzles are clogged.

De-clog by soaking the part in vinegar.

Smelly dishes from Kenmore Ultra Wash

If you post the model number of your dishwasher plus its approximate age (in years) I can help more.

But the most common cause is a weakening pump motor. On many dishwashers, the wash pump motor is also the drain motor. Replacing that motor / pump assembly will solve the problem. While you are replacing the pump, check the heating element to confirm that it is not shorted out or broken.

For now, add a cap full of bleach to the water _after_ the initial dishwasher fill cycle ends and the wash cycle begins. White vinegar would also work, but this will not fix your problem.

Good Luck!

The IRONY of my Quiet Guard!! SO LOUD!!!!

Yes the wash arm can be removed to get to the sump area. Take the model number for your dishwasher and enter it into a site like partselect.com. There you can get a blown up diagram of the components that need to be removed to get to the cause of the grind noise. Usually a seed or some other hard object has found its way down there.

Dishwasher

the water inlet valve is one of: 1.) electrically dead 2.) clogged with debris or: try this...unscrew the water inlet hose (after you turn off the water supply)...then clean the conical-shaped debris screen that you may find just at the entrance to the hose.
