Can't engage drill or hammer settings on de walt dc 925 xrp

Try turning the ring to 2 or 3 and run the drill holding the chuck so the clutch slips then try turning it to drill setting. Also try to do it in different speed settings. If not it sounds like a fault in the gear module. It might just be a metal clip just under the clip in side. Undo the 4 screws holding the gearbox onto the housing and carefully remove it, you might see the fault or loads of dirt that needs cleaning. Go to http://www.2helpu.com/world/map.aspx for a drawing.

Hi, i have a 18v rechargeable hand held vac (pirana brand). It wont hold charge or wont even charge. What can i do to revive and/or where can i get a replacement battery? Thanks

Before I gave up completly on this battery I would remove it from tool and put battery in freezer overnight. Remove from freezer and let set at room temperature for several hours. Try to charge and see what happens. I don't pretend to know why this works but I have done this with every thing from ceel phone batteries to cordless drills and several other tools. If you need a new battery you should be able to get one at any hardware store that carries De Walt tools. I know arond here True Value is one that carries a large selection of De Walt tools and supplies. Hope this helps. Thanks

Drill Is Dead Fuse O.K.

Check the brushes for wear.
Most likely the cord has a broken wire , usually happens close to the handle of the drill.
To test, split the case ( puzzle screwdriver bits are avaliable from hobby shops ) and run a test light on the cord from the plug to the switch.
If the cord is ok , test the switch , they are quite flimsy on De Walt tools so be careful.
If the cord is faulty cut the damaged section out and shorten it.
If the switch, replace it . Check price, they are very hard to get here in New Zealand and very expensive.
If the Brushes, these should be avaliable from your De Walt retailer.
While you have your drill apart, check the bearings, De Walt uses common sizes, easily avaliable from a bearing shop and prone to seizing up and burning out the armature.

Can't remove bits

I had this problem on my De Walt DW912- I simply couldnt turn the keyless chuck to remove the screwdriver bit and there was no obvious reason why.
I placed the unit on a solid surface so that the chuck/ drill bit was pointing vertical. I then used a mallet and a metal chisel to gently tap each of the 3 chuck jaws back into the chuck body. It worked!
Turned out that there was the absolute tiny amout of corrosion between the jaws, and the chuck and my tapping had just broken the siezure. I now remember that it started to rain slightly last time I used it.
Some spray release agent or perhaps WD40 would probably have done the same job but I wouldnt have believed so little corrosion could have done this so didnt realise this was the problem.
