Wow that is an old ****** mid 80's and I wish I had one ;-]
I do not recall seeing a 5 position, I think it came with a 6 and there was a second optional 6 but do not recall seeing a 5.
This has a halogen bulb. You could replace with and gain better lighting/contrast etc with any of them.
There are led types and others. To be honest without any experience in what you need to see the best advice I can give is you may have to try more than one. The newer led ones will be much better but they vary in the wavelength so some light is whiter and some is bluer than others.
I never tried to swap parts so no definite answer for you. They are similar but you would almost have to just try it. As long as you protect the lenses and eye pieces and remember where everything came from and how it mounted (its not that bad to strip down and clean and overhaul a scope) You can try to mix and match the parts. With a digital camera and a notepad this should be a nobrainer to attempt.

Thanks for the input.
I'll have to look into LED bulbs. Didn't know they could be retrofitted onto the older platforms. How long do they last. My current scope burns them out faster than one would expect. A colleague has the same scope and his doesn't do that. It may be that mine is always brighter than his due to a polarizing lens (analyzer) in the light path on my scope, so the bulb wears out faster. I don't know. Thanks.
