Windows XP SP3 does not recognize new RAM. I upgraded from 2GB to 6GB. Motherboard is Intel D975XBX. 2 1GB modules are in DIMMs 0 (blue). 2 2GB modules are in DIMMs 1 (black). Windows System Info reads only 3.24 GB of RAM. I have tried other configurations of the modules, following Intel's instructions for their placement carefully. I never get more then the 3.24 GB, even with only the 2 2GB modules installed by themselves (in DIMMs 0). So, those modules are working. RAM of course goes down to 1.9 GB with only the two 1GB modules in. I haven't tried putting in 3 modules--didn't see the point. What can I do to get Windows to recognize the RAM? is the module in properly?,is anything broken?? switch them around and see if the module is good or not,also,just because the motherboard supports 2 modules,if intel only recognizes 2gb then that is all,whether you have 2 1gb modules or 2 2gb modules,upgrade your intel chip and upgrade your bios

If installing 2 DIMMs, make sure the RAM modules are identical! Latest BIOS is P1.70. If you want to run Windows 10 , Download the instructions from www.ivanrf.com to bypass all of the false error messages from Windows because Windows 10 can not properly recognize the onboard NVIDIA 6100 grafic chip. I am using this Asrock motherboard with 2GB RAM under Windows 10, and it works fine.

Test the Ram dimms, one at a time. It sounds like you may have a bad module. Carefully reseat each one. And ground yourself to avoid static electricity.

Your motherboard have the following specifications:
Two 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets
• Support for DDR2 533 MHz and DDR2 400 MHz DIMMs
• Support for up to 2 GB of system memory
So either get 1 2GB RAM DDR2 with 533 or 400 MHz. It is maximum for your motherboard or have 2 1 GB accordingly.

you can use 2 sticks of 1 gig apiece to get to 2 gigs of total memory, but you have to make sure that the ram sticks use "512Mbit " technology.

the 512Mbit technology refers to the arrangement of memory chips on the ram cards. a card which uses 64Mx8 (8 seperate memory chips of 64M apiece) would be appropriate.

this sounds like a bug of some sort to me. if windows is seeing 6gb it should have 6gb but to be sure recheck the mobo book to see if you have it installed properly then check your bios to see if all 6gb is registering for real.

You can use only DDR 266Mhz dimms maximum upto 2 GB. i.e. one DIMMS of 266Mhz of 2GB or two of 1GB each. For more details read bellow:
