I have a model yth2348 mower. How do you adjust the speed of the mower. I have changed the drive belt but it still runs slow.

Hydrostatic transmission there is only one throttle setting and that is WFO. if it is running slower than it used to, and the drive belt is snug, then you are looking at a failing transmission.

your trans may not be failing i had the same problem you may need to get the air out of it or bleed it just google the type of trans and you will find plenty of links, also you will probably start having drive belt issues these mowers are problematic in these areas. I have one, the pulleys are good and once a year i have to put on a new drive belt.

Husqvarna too slow when mowing

Some self-propelled mowers include a speed control, but sometimes it may seem that no matter how you adjust it, the mower just creeps along at a snail's pace. Most likely this isn't a mechanical malfunction, but an adjustment is probably needed.

Very tall or thick grass can bog down a self-propelled mower, but adjusting the height of the blade may allow it to roll through and cut the grass at normal speeds. If the blade is low, the amount of cutting required may slow down the movement of the entire mower. The frame of the mower may also stick in the high grass. Raise the blade little by little until the mower rolls at the appropriate speed. Going up hills may cause a similar response.

It's possible the drive belt on the mower can slip. Inspect this part to see if it is loose or cracked, and replace the belt to restore power.

Looking at the IPL(exploded parts list) will give you a good look at the route of the belt. Here is a link to use and find your model

Murray Peerless transaxle slow forward speed. Drive belt was changed and linkages where adjusted. Very slow forward and no reverse.

I think the only logical conclusion is that your hydrostatic transmission is shot. If you know the model number, I think they
are stamped on the bottom, you can look over on ebay. There are some NOS vendors over there and they may have one. There are also mower junkyards around, believe it or not, and if you can find one you may find a serviceable replacement.

Transmission belt slips, can it be adjusted to tighten

You can replace the drive belt, and make sure the springs on the tensioner and clutch pulleys are good, but the belt itself has no adjustment. They stretch a bit with age, also not uncommon for the transmissions to go bad which means slow or no movement even though the engine runs normally.

Had to change the small drive belt that drives the transmission on a Troy-Bilt 42'' 17.5 HP Pony mower. Now it only has one speed forward, slow!! Didn't touch anything-got the OEM belt replacement. Any...

You need to adjust the gas pedal. Info should be in the owners manual. I have it in my Troy Bilt Bronco manual. It say to adjust it in my book after replacing the trans drive belt. Maybe that will help.
