Help? svp! So, my Philips 4GB mp3 player is wierding out on me. I have always put the same kind of files onto it, and it worked. I could put a couple hundred songs onto it and a movie. And it played them without problem. I used the windows media player 10 once to sync the music files on there. It worked fine until I wanted to add more songs, and then my player stopped playing the music. I went and cleared out EVERYTHING. Every music and video file was removed, so I could start clean. I put the files on there the normal way, from my computer, copy and pasting. It now says "File format not supported!" when I try to play a song. It will play the movie, but not the music. I tried the reset button, the repair thing (which nothing happened), and it says that my device is totally updated. I dont understand....perhaps you do???

"File Format Not Supported" - SA6045/37 The file format not supported message means that the type of file you are trying to load into the GoGear is not compatible with the GoGear. There are no GoGear's that are compatible with iTunes. As far as WMA files are concerned, the GoGear's vary wildly. If the WMA file has a bit rate higher than 192 kbps (which is quite common nowadays), it will not work. If you actually have an SA6045, then make sure the license on the WMA file has "transfer rights," or that the license has not expired. You can check this by right-clicking on the song, selecting Properties, and looking at the tab that says "license" or "digital rights management."
If you find that you are using an incompatible format, convert the songs to mp3 format. If the songs came from CD, use Windows Media Player to re-rip the songs in Mp3 format. You can do this in Windows Media Player 11 by  higlighting the "Rip" tab, pulling down the drop down-menu by clicking on the little tiny arrow that appears underneth the word "rip," and selecting "format", and then "mp3".
Good luck!

How do you down load music onto it?

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatiblevideo file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format thatyour MP3 player uses. Converting Files from CDs?

The bit rate and sampling rate that you set for the mp3 format was possibly wrong. Since the 4GB player obviously isn't an HDD6330, I can't tell you what those rates are, but they are on the spec sheet that came with the player in tiny writing (or in the back of the manual sometimes - 50/50 with Philips). Go back into the Rip options in Windows Media Player and set the bit rate to 128. Once ripped, select the Properties for one of the song and find out the sampling rate. If the sampling rate is wrong, you can use a free program called Media Monkey to convert them to the right rate.

Another possibility: the songs that you initially converted were in CDA format. When you went to resync the songs that had been changed to mp3 format, the Philips read them as "already on the player" and ignored the format changes. Delete all the songs off the Philips and resync the songs that are in mp3 format. Good luck!

Converting files to smv

You must use the Philips (ArcSoft) Media Converter that came on the installation CD. If you lost your CD, you can find it at www.usasupport.philips.com - enter your model # and go to the Software & Drivers section of your model #. It will say Media converter software.

How do i convert my rhapsody music files to play on my mp3

You have to get Rhapsody's Mp3 only service - I repeat, MP3 ONLY. No other level of Rhapsody service will work with the newer Philips' GoGear's - which is funny, b/c Philips co-branded with Rhapsody on the newer players.

Music on mp3 player isn't working

Try copy and pasting the music files directly onto your MP3. It should play. Thats how I did it on my phone and the music plays fine.

MP3 formating

Here's what you want to do. Use Windows Media Player to re-Rip the CD's in Mp3 format. Go to Windows Media Player 11 --> Rip --> Rip Options --> Format --> Mp3 (you can get to Rip options by moving the mouse over the Rip tab, and a small black arrow will appear - click on the arrow).

Once the songs are in true mp3 format, you can then use the Sync tab in Windows Media Player to transfer the songs.

Unfortunately, many of the newer Philips players do not recognize DRM-encryption, which is why the songs would have worked in one player and not this one.

Or:

You have to get Rhapsody's Mp3 only service - I repeat, MP3 ONLY. No other level of Rhapsody service will work with the newer Philips' GoGear's - which is funny, b/c Philips co-branded with Rhapsody on the newer players. Rhapsody is not your only choice, but you must ensure that the files you are downloading are in Mp3 format.
