Holmes Products (HPF650MCU) Stand (Pedestal) Fan Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 18, 2011

I had a holmes HPF 650 MCU outdoor pedestal fan which worked great for five years and then abruptly stopped working. Rather than repair it, I tossed it out thinking I could purchase another one. Apparently, the model (and style) has been discontinued. Do you have any idea where i might purchase a new or refurbished fan like this? Bill

I am also interested in purchasing two new or used
Silver Hunter 90121 Century Pedestal fans and two white Hunter Rockefeller table fans.

Bill... I am sorry. It is indeed not available new.

If you really want one, try craigslist. I found one:

    My apologies for the error.

How do I turn on my Holmes HSF 1670 16 inch oscillating 5 blade stand fan?

Didn't find a 1670 model but Holmes pedestal typically has buttons just below the fan, front side.

The fan just stopped working...

Take a look at the plug. If there is a little flap, open it. There is a fuse. Check it / replace it if it's blown....

I purchased the wndchaser mistingfan approx 2 yrs ago. It doesn't work after having been used a few times. The switch doesn't work to turn the fan on. I tried to contact the co by phone to no avail

It probably is out of warranty. Most warranties last no longer than 1 year. The switch needs replaced. But it would be cheaper to buy another brand of fan than to pay someone to repair the one that you now own, unless you do the repair yourself.

How do replace the fuse in the fan cuz it stopped working

The fuse is usually in the plug, that you plug into wall socket. If you look at the plug, you should see a small, rectangular slot with a small tab at one end. Get a small screwdriver to slide it open. The fuse is in there.

I need an owners manual for my Holmes fan, serial # HPF-650

Go to the Holmes Group web site and type in your model. Then you can download a PDF copy of the original manual.

Hello. I have a stand (pedestal) Holmes fan, model number HASF-1516, that is not working when plugged in to the electrical socket. How do I go about troubleshooting?

Firstly please make sure that you connecting wire in not cut at any where and connection is good.
If your connection is ok then also it doesn't rotates then might be your coil has been burned and you need to replace its wiring and check the starter

My fan is not rotating when I connected to plug. There is no burning smell or anything. How can I fix the problem? Thanks in advance

Hello.

I have a Holmes pedestal fan that does this every few years. I have had this fan for about 10 years.

Unplug the fan and remove the fan blade guard. The fan blade should spin easily when you tap the edge of the fan blades with your finger. If the blade barely moves and abruptly stops, the bearings are dirty and need to be cleaned and oiled with 10W non-detergent motor oil. A quick-fix is a tiny bit of WD-40 where the motor shaft (the rod that the fan blade is mounted on) meets the bearing (the part of the motor that the shaft spins on). To properly fix this, you must oil both the front and back motor bearings which requires removal of the motor housing.

If the fan blade spins easily and you are certain that the fan is getting power (try a different outlet) the motor may be bad. Likewise, if the fan blade will not move at all. I do not know if Holmes sells motors for these fans. Here is their online support website:

www.holmesproducts.com/Support.aspx

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

P.S.: Never turn a motor-operated appliance on for more than a second if you know it's not working. That will cook the motor windings.
