My old GE Spacemaker II microwave (JEM21K001) died. I was using it, heard a little pop, and it lost all power. Is this something simple to fix like replacing a fuse or is it bulk trash at this point?

HELLO.

take on these steps to solve the problem.

Check if there is electric power on wall outlet.

If the microwave plug has fuse, check if it has not burnt.if these are okay there is need to take the last step.

things needed
1.Screwdriver
2.Ohmmeter
3.New fuse

1. Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet to prevent electrocution. Place the microwave in a well-lit area to be able to locate the fuse.

2. Use a screwdriver to remove the outer cabinet of the microwave, and follow the power cord to the fuse. The fuse is located 2 to 3 inches within the microwave and is attached to the power board.

3. Observe the fuse to determine if it is blown. Blown glass fuses will produce burn marks on nearby surfaces, or the internal fuse wire will be black and melted, while ceramic fuses show no outward appearance of being blown.

4. Determine if a ceramic fuse is blown by testing it with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter reads zero ohms, your fuse is not blown. Other readings on the ohmmeter show that your fuse is blown.
5. Replace the blown fuse by popping it out of its holder, and snapping a new fuse in its place. Tighten the fuse clips by squeezing them together with your fingers.

6. Replace the outer cabinet of the microwave, and plug the microwave back into the electrical outlet. Test the microwave to see if it's working properly.

Thanks.

GE eterna spacemaker microwave won't heat

The problem is a magnetron, "heart of the system" or the inverter board, "if 7 years old or less" and possibly the keypad control board, all of these items are not cheap and lethal voltages are present.

I have a ge spacemaker microwave JVM1640sj03. It makes a popping noise as the table turns when I have food in it. What can I do to fix this and why is it happening. Many thanks.

theres something metal inside the microwave look for a screw or something that may have been placed in there during a repair. metal causes the microwaves to reflect back to the magnetron creating the popping noise you hear.

you will need to find the source of the burning. it could be a cheap fix or more involved depending on the component. it could be a transformer, h.v.diode, magnetron, etc. if the diode is shorted, there is a good chance magnetron is defective too.

GE Spacemaker microwave oven - Sensor error

Hello :

Many models of the GE microwave have sensors that can detect humidity from the foods you are cooking. This allows the microwave to make adjustments to the power levels used to cook your food. If "Sensor Error" appears, you should either press "Clear" to cancel the mode or leave the food in the appliance longer to give the microwave more time to detect the food.

Press "Time Cook" to manually enter the time if you receive an error message when trying to use the "Sensor Reheat" mode of your GE microwave. The error message may be caused by the food item being too large or too small to detect

YOU CAN TRY REMOVING THE GLASS TRAY AND TURNTABLE AND REPLACING IT WITH YOUR OLD GLASS TRAY (IF YOU HAD ONE) OR JUST ANY GLASS MICROWAVE TRAY. WITHOUT THE TURNTABLE, I CAN'T SEE HOW IT CAN ROTATE.

My keypad is also dead.

No, but as with all electronic items faulty ones typically show themselves up during the first few months of use.

You've probably just been one of the unlucky ones.
