My compaq presario v2000 laptop cannot detect the wifi signal of Zyxel router. It can detect all other router brands. I'm sure that my Zyxel router is sending signal because I can detect it using my HTC smartphone. Can anyone help?. I already tried restarting my laptop and restarting the router and still nothing.

how long does it stay connected if it does connect at all? catch all method, reset the wireless router to factory defaults if that doesn't fix the problem check your wireless card on your computer to make sure it is enabled and while you are at it go to the manufacturers website and download and install the latest drivers

Your Compaq V2000 has an Intel Pro Wireless 2200 BG wireles adapter. (doesn't support N, but that's not the point I think)

If your new network configuration is based on WPA/WPA2 encyption, this adapter has some known problems to establish a connection. It works great with WEP, but not so well with WPA.
Sometimes the issue can be solved by installing the latest versions of drivers and software for the wireless adapter.
If it still doesn't work, a known workaround is to disable via device manager all other network adapters in the computer (ethernet adapter), leaving active only the Intel Pro 2200 wireless adapter.

And when you did that, did the system then work? If it did you may have a faulty WiFi card or an incompatible driver.

There should be a button or key on there to turn wifi on and off.

check to see if your router is wep or wpa encrypted if it is you need to enter the key in your laptop.
