Hi,
You need to install driver for your sound card. You must have installation disc for that. It's probably realtec high definition sound card or just download driver from official site. Look up for your laptop and download driver from there.
good luck

You need to install the sound drivers for the particular model of laptop. I need to know your specific model of laptop to help you further.

Sometimes the drivers for certain hardware are not included on the Windows Operating System Installation Disk and come on a separate driver disk.

If you do not have a separate disc the drivers can usually be found online.

Looks most likely that your Moms' hard disk has some bad sector on the boot drive. The best you can do is to reinstall the laptop. You may have to hand over the laptop to someone who is good with computer and has the OS disk to this this for you.

Every time the system is turned on it says Non-system disk or disk error, replace and strick any key when ready. There are no disk in the disk drive or the sd drive. No matter how many keys you strike...

Your computer tries to "boot" from various devices:
* bootable files on a USB memory-stick or SD memory-card
* from 3.5-inch diskette drive (if installed)
* from CD/DVD disk
* from your disk-drive

Your computer tried to boot from your disk-drive, but FAILED to do so.

Since the disk-drive is "dead", it tries to boot from any of the other devices,
and displays that error-message when it cannot boot.

So, your disk-drive has "died". Ouch!

You need to purchase a new disk-drive, and reinstall Windows onto it.

My Hp Pavilion dv5000 crashed! XP cd displays error message!

If you are facing this issue while installing Windows, Most probably there is an issue with the memory card. If you have two memory modules try to use one of the memory modules in each slot at a time. If you have only one memory stick then try to use it one by one on each slot. If you it does not work then probably you might have to replace the memory stick.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Sound card

Dear Loreerupe,

This sounds like a corrupted software file. Please use your installation disk and reinstall the sound driver file. This will overwrite the corrupted files and upon the machine rebooting you will have gained sound operation again.

Unfortunately you dont state the model/maker/windows operating system and cannot help any further with instructions/manuals/driver files.

I hope you can fix this,
Regards
