Maytag dryer fault code 8.8. what does this mean

88 is not a error code on the tech sheet..all error code should have an F-XX I think your control must be showing a bad circurt in the control... you need to replace control... hope it helps

This has been happening to our dryer of the same model for 2 years.

we un-plug, plug, un-plug, plug, un-plug, plug over and over until we get the display back.

sometimes it'll go rght back to 8.8. other times it will work for a couple of minutes and freak out and stop again.

we've found if we can get the display back to normal switching to Timed Dry instead of Sensor Dry will sometimes work better, but as of late it working less and less.

Humidity seems to play a part. Today is horridly rainy and humid and I'm ready to smash it to pieces.

its annoying, not a show stopper. Typically we can get it to work in 1-4 minutes.

Once its hot its not a problem. If I can get it to run through a single load i can keep loading and running it as long as its hot.

Once it cools down, it can start all over again.
