I have a tomtom go 910 - Working just fine a couple of days ago, now I get a red circle with a white "X" on the right hand corner of my screen at start up. I do not have it (nor have I ever had it connected) to a computer.. what could possibly be wrong? I have tried resetting.

When the TomTom navigation software is bad (corrupted, error) an X is shown on the screen ...
You'll want to try to recover the software from your backup (that you have made on your computer).
Otherwise, you'll need to connect your device to the HOME (or MyDrive Connect) software (on your computer/laptop) to see if you can re-install the software.

SOURCE: GO 910 Cannot remove flashing white cross in red circle

Same here today. Had to replace all the files with those I copied and burnt to a backup CD when I first connected the ONE. If I try just a map update through Home (not an application update) then I get a "No Maps" message after startup. I'll bet dozens of perfectly good units are being replaced by retailers everywhere. I am now going to seek an explanation from TomTom. It may just be that the current updates are buggy or corrupted. At least I had the sense to back everything up before I tried to update the thing so I can quickly get going again. Spent about three hours so far faffing about with this "plug and play with yourself" little marvel. Bah!

Go to TOMTOM website and reinstall driver. If that doesn't work, try a different USB port.

hello, The CD symbol in the corner is to show that the internal hard drive has a problem searching for or loading files. If your lucky your hard drive will be OK but somehow you have lost or corrupted data. If you made a backup copy of your hardrive sometime in the past then now might be a good time to reinstall that backup. If your'e unlucky then your hardrive is shot and the only answer will be to replace the drive. This can be done at reasonable cost by obtaining one from a defunct MP3 player or similar nano , Ipod type that has a suitable microdrive. Scrapper types of these can be found littering Ebay , but of course keep in mind the risk that these too could be damaged. Good luck , hope it all works out for you.

Tomtom GO 910 GPS Receiver flashing white X in a red circle
I discovered that there was a file on the 910 called CLMDATA which was corrupt. When I deleted this in Windows explorer, the unit started up and worked OK. This file is recreated when the unit starts up
