I have a heater problem, it's a 3 year old sta rite 333 hd. When it first starts up it fires for about 10 seconds then cools down and the service heater light comes on, there are no lights on behind the board all those warning lights stay off, the finwall flashes 3 time and that's it. Temp sensor is fine filter is clean, filter has no leaks.I changed the thermal regulator and the flue sensor those are also ok. The pentair guy said try the ignitor so I'm going try that tomorrow. Do you have any suggestions?

First, make sure your unit has good, tight and solid ground from panel, to timer, to heater. Then make sure you have your pump running on high if you have a two speed or variable pump motor. Then try it. If that doesn't work...change out the water pressure switch. It'll cost you 40.00. Done deal. Next....

Have any mice been inside the heater? If so check the burner. Some times the mice will nest inside the burner and it will need to be cleaned.

Between the two water pipes on the left side of the manifold is a two inch plug. When you take this plug out the thermal regulator assembly will come with it.It consists of "O" rings, a spring and what looks like a thermostat in a car. This is the probal bad part although it could be the spring also. You can get these parts seperatly or in a kit. If this is an older heater the kit is the way to go so you get all the nessary "O" rings and you will be covered on everything you need.

Sta Rite 333 Btu Natural Gas Heater Maxetherm Sr333na Leaks water and high copper in my water

It sounds like your water has either been running at a low pH level, or you have a salt system. Basically your heat exchanger coil has dissolved into your pool water.
The exchanger can be replaced although it is pricey. I would recommend replacing it with a cupronickel coil. This is far more resistant to the type of corrosion you have experienced. Just be sure to keep a closer eye on the pH also.
